Was that req worth it?

I see a lot of players say they don’t want to use reqs out of the fear of losing them without getting to use them. I was just curious how you all define a “well used req.”

I have three main criteria that tell me my req pull wasn’t a waste.

  1. The req had the ability to win the warzone match while I use it.

An example of this would be if I pull out an Oni Scorpion, and use that Scorpion to do a load of damage to the final legendary boss, with my team getting the kill for a win, or for an irreversible point lead. Or if I use that same Oni Scorpion to destroy enemy players targeting the final boss, and I prevent them from getting a good firing line set up, resulting in the win, or irreversible point lead.

  1. I kill as many enemy players, as the card costs in req energy.

For example, if I pull a Lawgiver for 3 req points, I have to get at least 3 kills with it before death, or I’ve wasted it. If I pull an Answer for 6 req points, I better get at least 6 kills with it.

  1. I take a base, or prevent a coordinated enemy capture attempt on a base. (Coordinated meaning more than 2 players trying to capture a base.)

Say I pull a Profits Bane. If I can take the enemy armory while I have the sword, even if I don’t kill 7 players, then I think I’ve used the req effectively. It feels like a bonus if I prevent the counter-offensive attempt with the same req.

How do you all decide if you’ve effectively and efficiently used a req that you’ve called in?

For me a lot of it depends on what the outcome will most likely be if I decide to use it.
One example I can relate to is; I’m going to get a lot of aggro if our backs are against the wall and I decide to use something like a Banshee. I consider myself a fairly good Banshee pilot, so if there’s one other enemy Banshee in the sky at the time, chances are I’ll probably go with something higher like an Ultra or Temple since I’ve won most 1v1 Banshee duels without outside interference. Other occasions, I’ll try my hand at something else that can take it out like a Spartan Laser. If I can at least destroy the Banshee that’s harassing our team, then I consider all the REQs I spent to take it down, worth the trouble, even if it’s multiple cards.

In the end though; it’s always in the back of my mind that if I die and lose the weapon, then the enemy will pick it up and use it against me and my teammates. I’ve lost armories and games because of this.

I have to at least move without getting spawn killed, and I have to get a kill. I kind of suck at regular warzone, so I never use anything higher than a rare

In my eyes, a well-used REQ is where I’ve made most of its shots count, and survived while wielding it. Energy Swords are a prime example since you’ll rarely get the opportunity to rack up 10 consecutive kills in a row, and not get killed in the process. Prophets’ Bane may have the additional grace of Active Camo, but it’s still a risky venture.

Outside of Warzone, this also applies to Super Fiesta nicely.

at least a few kills , but the higher the req the more kills i want to be satisfied e.g. nornfang or answer id love to run out of ammo to feel satisfied whereas lasers as long as i take down whoever is annoying me enough to spawn one ill be happy

I don’t know, maybe they were REQ hoarders like myself! During the time of Halo 5, I wouldn’t really use my higher REQs at all for the fear of not having any! Haha

My biggest fear is if i pull a high end req, if i die and it falls into the enemy hands and it costs us an armory or a boss kill.

I’d say a req is well used as long as I had fun using it

I find this mentality leads to a lot of team losses. I can’t tell you how many games I’ve played where I’m calling in reqs, capping bases, and killing bosses easily, while everyone else on my team is getting slaughtered. When I look at the post game stats, I have a 15+ KDA, with multiple base caps, and 3+ boss kills, and no one else on my team is even close. Often I’ll have the top 3 damage dealt as well.

If no one on the team is calling in reqs, you’ll notice a huge inequality between kills on each team. If one team is calling in ghosts, banshees, and Mantises, and your team is using nothing but BR’s and SMG’s, it’s going to feel like you’re getting farmed, even if the other team isn’t actively trying to farm you.

I guess what I’m saying, is don’t live in fear during warzone! Call in those reqs early and often! Sure you may die before getting to use them some times, but I think you’ll find it doesn’t happen as often as you fear it will.

I have played plenty of war zone to know what you are saying, but I’m talking about an answer or norfang etc been handed over to the enemy team

A Req isn’t worth using if you’ve activated it and the match ends without you firing a shot. No kill, and it’s expended already.

Of course, another reason to get into a seething rage is if you’re murdered by a Crawler or Grunt mob before you could mass kill them with a fuel rod cannon or grenade launcher etc.

If I get kills with 75% of the ammo, that means I used it well

If I get kills with 75% of the ammo that means I used it well.

For me, it is only frustrating if i die off of spawn. If i go out and get myself killed or make a mistake and lose it, i feel the req was wasted. If i get spawn killed, terrible spawn, etc than i feel it’s not worth it. As we all know we can’t take them with us to Halo 6 though, so might as well use them!

I expect to lose whatever i bring out. I ended up giving away 3 or 4 Prophet’s Banes in one match the other day. It screwed my team but i got a few kills lol.

For lower reqs at least 5 kills for higher like the Nornfang every shot must kill someone and every shot fired by ME! not the teammate who picked it up after I died.

I hope they celebrate the release of Halo 6 with a week of turbo and I will use every card till I have none left.

We have been getting Turbo on the Double XP Rotation. I’m thinking (2) weeks until it is back.

That being said, the closer to Halo 6 we get, the more people will be flying around with crazy REQs trying to use them all haha

Lets look at the master of a feared Req…The phaeton, THIS mother…flyer, is a high 7-8 REQ! but yeah, is easily destroyed like tissue. I get it, the Phaeton is suppose to be a dodge type air vehicle but the truth is, you ain’t going to get far when you’e a bight lightbulb, shooting pretty slow projectiles at your enemies, once a tank, mantis or banshee got a sight on that phaeton…you…are…****'d.

Another note to take in is that you can easily spawn and die within seconds, take WZ:A for example, a attacker’s living hell if you ask me.

Lastly, why bother? all the weapons you have a pretty OP…well the BR and DMR, there’s no point in wasting reqs cause you can still do those thing effectively with the energy bayonet + sensor upgrade makes up a pretty much a close bootleg version of the prophet’s bane.

I run advanced sensors most of the time, and comparing that mod with a bayonet attachment to Profits Bane… That’s kinda like comparing the New England Patriots to the Cleveland Browns. Sure they both kinda do the same thing, but are you really going to try and convince me that one isn’t way better than the other?

And what exactly is your plan to deal with a team that calls in 3+ banshees at once, if you don’t want to call in weapons? Or how do you stop a full team assault on your armory when the other team is ahead of you in req levels?

I claim that not calling in reqs is going to guarantee a loss in most warzone games.
