Was Mars ever attacked?

When you read and play Halo, you come across names for planets that don’t even exist right now, with the exception of Earth for reasons. What of the planets closest to earth? This also brings up the idea that the other species in the universe know of earth’s location, and of the Sol system in general. Would they still be at risk of an attack on the scale Earths initial invasion?

It has not been attacked by the covanant, or any other sentient life forms.

Yes, Mars was attacked in late 2552 when Earth was attacked.

I’m gonna go with… Maybe. But, maybe not.

Waypoint’s Universe entry for Mars as well as Halopedia’s information both disagree.

> After centuries of tranquility, Mars once again saw war when the Prophet of Truth’s fleet arrived in the Sol System in late 2552. Though the UNSC forces on the planet were eventually destroyed, their valiant defense delayed Covenant forces from pressing their assault on Earth.

> During the Covenant’s assault in the Sol system in late 2552, Mars was attacked by the Covenant following the arrival of the High Prophet of Truth’s fleet.[1] Mars was the site of a large-scale engagement called the Battle of Mare Erythraeum, set on the fields of Mare Erythraeum. There, Colonel James Ackerson and his UNSC Army forces combated against the Fleet of Furious Redemption’s ground forces, commanded by Jiralhanae Chieftain Lepidus. The UNSC lost the battle and Ackerson was taken prisoner.[11] While the UNSC resistance was crushed, the human population centers on Mars survived the Covenant assault relatively intact.[12]The Martian defense on the planet is credited for delaying Covenant forces from pressing their invasion on Earth.[1]

In short, yes, Mars was attacked during the Human-Covenant War.

Yes,Mars was attacked and suffered heavy losses.

Why can’t we have a marine based spinoff on said ^ events???

He was then interrogated and killed. Spartan Hoya when he was an ODST was also captured but freed himself and a few other prisoners in an escape. Not sure where Dutch wife was in all this. This is all from the fallout of Mars being attacked.

Considering that Dutch got married after the war, around the time that Buck got his second chance at being an S-IV, more than likely well out of harms way.

I thought he got married to Gretchen before the Mars was attacked, when she lost her leg. The comic…the name I can’t remember, had her trying to talk him out ODST

I think it was called Halo: Helljumper or something along those lines.

The colony of mars was never attacked by the covenant, but in 2163, during the interplanetary war, the newley created UNSC had launched a campaign against the koslovics, and the Friedens.

If you are interested in reading Halo Mythos, this is Majorly discussed!

Yup, Gabriel Thorne the Spartan from Spartan Ops participated in that Battle. I think rebels also bombed the factory that made Wolverines on Mars also.

No the events of doom took place there

It was. But in New Blood he mentions actually settling down with her. Maybe Im miss-remembering. Either way we know Gretchen is still alive post-War because of that.
