Was Jerry hook forced out for trying to keep shop prices low?

To me, it’s just too big of a coincidence that as soon as Jerry hook leaves, the daily items get completely removed from the store and shop prices rise week over week almost back to the level of release day pricing… maybe Jerry hook was going to bat for us more than we knew.

Well, he never said anything about it. I think it’s somebody trying to sneak the prices back up.

He never said anything about being forced out you mean?

Yeah. That’s what I meant.

seems legit

A reasonable assumption for sure.

After all, he was going against the marketing team; which these days is counter-productive and can be deemed grounds to try to dissuade someone from continuing employment with your company so that you can raise prices again in order to boost profit income.

Or it could also be coincidence that prices are going up in the entire economy and therefore they raised prices to keep up with the Economy as a whole.
Gas goes up.
Everything goes up.
Gasoline in my state is now $4.40 per gallon.
And the Dollar Tree franchise had to raise their prices from $1.00 to $1.25 after decades of resisting inflation costs.

No, no one has been “forced out” of 343. If you follow game developers on Twitter or LinkedIn you’ll see that developers are always leaving one studio for another. It’s extremely common. Jerry probably felt like it was time for a change, maybe wanted to work on another franchise close to his heart, or got offered a better package to work at another studio. Happens all the time.

So they can go from making little money to no money lmao. I think the fad of spending large amounts of cash in games is dying especially now with the global recession going on. There’s so many better things to spend money on.

If only

You know how expensive gas is son? I haven’t bought ingame dlc for any game in close to half a year at this point!

Well, according to those same sites it sucks to work at 343. So I dont see how that somehow means he wasnt forced out.

Sure it’s probably a coincidence. But with 343 the smartest thing to do is to always expect the worst option as that seems to be their mantra.

I believe it.

Immediately after leaving the prices went back up and 343 Industries has been pretty silent on this matter.
You cant say otherwise without looking like a fool defending 343’s choice of handling Halo Finite.

Yeah, nothing new there. It only makes it looks suspicious because Jerry Hook was just one of multiple people who pulled out of 343, and some of the leadership shifting positions. This is on top of the lower-level contractor stuff that came out. To me, it makes 343 looks like they can’t hold onto their higher-level people, and don’t want to keep their lower-level people on.

It sucks if you’re a contract worker. Jerry was full time. People don’t usually leave Microsoft because it “sucks” to work there. They offer one of the best benefits packages anyone could ask for.

Thing is if the sheep just didn’t take the bait then the game that halo is today could of been diffrent.

Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing. It certainly doesn’t seem like a coincidence… but then, it also raises the question as to how they could possibly think the current store model is more profitable.

There’s now less content every week without daily items, and the prices on these bundles are so outrageous that I won’t buy anymore credits because 1. I don’t want to support this kind of lousy business practice, and 2. I figure I can just wait until the items go on sale anyway, since the only items in the store that I even care enough to spend money on are the unreleased Mark V [B] armor bundles that 343 has withheld for over 7 months.

Not saying anyone was forced out here, but usually unless the person is an idiot they’re not going to admit to being forced out. People tend to not want to hire you if you’re known for bad mouthing your employer.

Like food, and a mortgage

What irks me the most is the reasoning they gave for the hike. They really wanna give less for more it seems. If they stuffed the pack with 2 or 3 more cosmetic pieces, the 1700 might actually look quite appealing.

But it seems that no, they really wanna give us the bare minimum for an outrageous price, everytime.

And that is also marketing and sales 101.
“How much can I make them pay while giving them the least possible?” is a marketing strategy that often results in people dropping a service or a company’s production.
