343, I know you can make competent things, I just know it. I know that, as professional developers, you know how to make quality content. I know that as programmers, you know the results of not thoroughly testing your work. I know that, as a business, you know the importance of maintaining a good reputation. 343, this is not the best you can do, and I’m sure many people on your team know it. I’m sure many people probably warned of the dangers of this releasing so preemptively, and I’m sure there were many arguments between many people about how to deal with this. To those people who fought to delay this project, I say, “I am sorry.” I am sorry that you had to put your name on this game, something that is quite embarrassing as a creator of content. To those who fought to have this game released in the state it was, I ask, “Are you happy?” There is little faith left in your abilities as a developer (see the number of “343 sucks posts”) and people are even calling for the boycott of your next project. I ask, “Was it worth it?” All this doubt in how much you care, and your abilities to succeed, all because of what? Trying to get the game ‘exactly’ 10 years later? Trying to get the game in for the Christmas rush? Was the loss in consumer confidence worth the quick buck? Because, in the end, that’s most likely what happened. 343, you should be ashamed. Not because of the messy product, or even the complete ignorance of the community post-launch. You should be ashamed because you let short-term greed overcome what could have been the greatest gaming remake, nay, the greatest game of all time. You took the easy road, and you should feel ashamed. This will have long-term consequences, which I’m sure you will start to soon see with Halo 5, and I again ask, “Was it worth it?”
Well, it’s not like 343 is the one funding or setting the release date. It was Microsoft trying to sell Xbox’s before Christmas and pressuring to get the game ready. So you can’t really blame 343 for rushing the game.
I also have to disagree with you saying 343 can make a competent game addition to the Halo series. They had ample time to create H4 which we won’t talk about, and H5 is also a disgrace to the classic Halo games.

Microsoft and 343 is a team. For all intents and purposes of this post, they are one and the same. That being said, it’s the job of people like Bonnie Ross to get more time from the scheduling team for the development team. That, however, is a different post.
They have done each individual skill required to make a great game individually, just not together in one game. For example, Halo 4 had very few glitches and was very polished but had awful gameplay, but Halo 2a (which I know they didn’t directly work on but they did put their name on it, which matters) had great gameplay, but lots of glitches.
