So with the weapon tuneup movement speed got a 10% bump, now it seems really difficult to track and chase enemies. I don’t recall seeing a lot of discussion or complaints about slow movement speed in this game, was this change really requested or is this something new they decided to add? Going back and playing Halo 3, OMG, Spartans move like they’re in molasses compared to this game.
The increased movement speed makes Thruster Pack more useful, and strafing now becomes a legit tactic when fighting head on with enemies. It also indirectly reduces the insane bullet magnetism of the DMR by making it harder to track enemies since they move slightly faster. Overall, this increase in movement speed increases the skill gap and is for the better of Halo 4.

Hit the nail right on the head, really. The only downside to the %10 movement speed increase, is that with sprint and instant respawns, it makes a fast-paced game even faster. But in a competitive environment instant respawn would be disabled anyways, so it’s only a slight issue. In my opinion.
I was on the fence about it but having tried I am officially converted. Even sprint (gasp!) feels better with the base increase.
Now if only shield regen would get a small boost…
I really wouldn’t have thought that a mere 10% movement speed boost could make that much of a difference. Fortunately, it does. I can’t imagine going back to “only” 100% again anymore.
It was for the greater good.
