Even though every online FPS is flooded with kids, I think Halo Wars was a plan to have more kid fans, like James Bond Jr.
First of, THERE WAS A MEGABLOCKS TOYLINE, and second, in Australia, it was rated PG.
What do ya think?

I dont think it was. I found most “kids” that played had trouble grasping what to do to when a match would go bad. Most matches iv had with a teen player where we start to lose we end up losing and cant come back. BUt with older players iv had plenty of games where we were near death and we came back to win
Nah, if it did, then it probably wouldn’t have had as much effort put into it.
Is Halo Wars rated M in other counties? I live in Australia and I thought the game was just PG lol.
I don’t think so, most “kids” wouldn’t like RTS’s
> Is Halo Wars rated M in other counties? I live in Australia and I thought the game was just PG lol.
In the US its rated “T”, roughly the same as your “PG”. Every other Halo is the next step up in the US, “M”.

I find it funny because my LE tells me on the front its rated M yet the back says Teen
This game was not made to introduce kids to the Halo universe. It’s far more complex than the other Halo games which are pretty much point and click - very straightforward.
Whenever I hear that a youngster is on my team, I know that I’m gonna have to guide them through EVERYTHING. I have to tell them to collect resources with their hog, build supply pads (instead of reactor first then barracks then turret) and make units (other than ODST or a Scarab).
Granted, there are many older players who are guilty of these actions but I find that the younger you are, the more clueless you are.
If they had wanted to make the game for a younger audience then it would have been about as useless as the Harry Potter games. We would find that we are throwing Grunts into a garden patch in order to get to the next level. The ending would probably consist of the three Spartans doing the Conga with the Arbiter and Forge while singing “Let’s be friends forever”.
Trust me, if it was made for kids then Forge would not be stabbing the Arbiter in the neck with a knife before sticking a plasma sword into his stomach before throwing him off the edge of a cliff!
The explanation behind Halo Wars being so streamlined for the console was to try and emulate Halo CE. CE was very accessible; controls were simple enough, weapons were easy to learn, the game was a good “pick up and play” title. It was the USB of shooters when it came out.
Ensemble wanted Halo Wars to be that for RTS games, easy for people to just jump in and get to playing. In the end perhaps it ended up being too simple.
> THERE WAS A MEGABLOCKS TOYLINE
Don’t knock the Mega Bloks stuff, most of them are pretty nicely detailed…and where else are you going to get replicas of the Sabre, Elephant, and Rhino?

Halo Wars was simple and easy to follow.

The "PG’ rating can be violent.
I feel the rating was a byproduct of the genre. With the models being so small and low res the action isn’t as intimate. It’s not a violent looking.
Ensemble was designing an RTS and Microsoft tasked them with making it a Halo one so that it would be more successful. The goal was to make an rts using the Halo property to expand the game’s audiance, not to expand Halo’s age demographic.
Besides, I’d say a Halo shooter would be more attractive to children than a Halo rts. Also, I don’t think the developers of Halo games ever sought to get any particular rating. They just make the game they want.
Halo Wars was not even meant to be a Halo game. Ensemble Studios was experimenting with an RTS, and for some reason, Microsoft gave them permision to use Halo, which pissed off Bungie.
