Was Halo 5 Disappointing To You?

In my eyes, 343 ruined halo for me. After Halo 4, I gave 343 another chance. I shouldn’t have. Many of the elements of the previous halos are missing/removed, and it doesn’t feel like halo anymore. The armor limitations, No elite race in multi, no memorable maps to play; all bland. The dull story, etc. Goodbye Halo. My favorite video game franchise is ruined in my eyes. Farewell.

What is with these departure letters ?

It was beyond disappointing. I bought an Xbox One just to play it and luckily I kept my receipt so I was able to return the system after my free gold trial ended. It was just such a bad experience from the short and disappointing campaign to the dull pay to win warzone to the competitive multiplayer with a total lack of map/mode variety, people always quitting leading to uneven matches, broken rank system and so on.

If the Master Chief Collection actually worked properly I would have kept the console and just played that but 343 couldn’t even handle porting the old Halo’s. I would have been fine just playing 2 and 3 multiplayer but I’ve heard the horror stories about how broken it is and how barely anyone still plays.

Halo 4 was two steps in the wrong direction (although Reclaimer, Composer and Midnight were awesome and well done!). Halo 5 is one step in the right direction, which is towards the classic Halo 1/2 feel.

same here, halo 4 was borderline but MCC was too much, then the whole “cortana becomes a zombie didact” or some -Yoink- really made me lose all trust in 343.

It was not disappointing… the campaign was a let down and the multiplayer has its ups and downs. I know it is the one multiplayer in recent years I’ve played for more than a few weeks, so I think it’s pretty good.

What is with people commenting on departure letters ?

I was disappointed with the end result, but I still enjoyed it. I’m taking a break at the moment to play Just Cause 3 and Rainbow Six Siege, but I’ll return to H5 soon.

I think a lot of people were just unhappy with the general lack of content, REQ system and huge lack of communication on 343’s behalf.

I didn’t think it was all that disappointing, probably because I’m a fan boy. Although I would’ve liked to have some core mechanics from the older games inserted into halo 5

There is no skill gap in this game. In 4v4 arena to BTB or warzone, zero skill gap with the amount of extra -Yoink- they put in this game

Overall, i was very disappointed in what they made halo into on the very first day.

no, no, and no. I am speaking for myself here, but the story was an absolute failure (which i disregarded for a while but recently have become pissed about again). Communication to a degree, but it didnt ruin Halo, as I had zero communication with bungie and their games and loved each of them. The REQs dont bother me, but the stupid as -Yoink- RNG needs to burn in hell. Lack of content changes, and forge mode was the only little bit of success that keeps me from uninstalling the game entirely. My biggest problems, and the reasons i wont get halo 6, is story, the -Yoinked!- up multiplayer (everything besides weapon sandbox is trash) and lack of customization.

I have to agree with the campaign, it was so well advertised that it made it seem like the biggest story ever to be told and did a complete 180.
The lack of customization for your Spartans, i liked it when you could have different armour sets like in previous Halo games(Halo 3, Halo Reach)

I thoroughly enjoy Halo 5 and strive to improve

“Disappointing” would suggest that I had high expectations from the game. No, it was as bad as I thought it’d be. So I can’t vote in the poll because I don’t fit in either response…

I was on the fence with Halo 5 for a while, I bought it in the first week after release. Halo 5 is worth the purchase to me if I’m able to forge fun infection maps while it’s still alive. Bungie appreciated infection as fan legacy - a good business practice looking back. I wrongfully assumed infection would be in Halo 5 (as it was officially a part of Halo since Halo 3), and didn’t notice until forge came out that it wasn’t. This forge tool is incredibly powerful (I do miss physics toys). However, 343’s lack of support for custom games is simply a disservice to Halo’s legacy. Indeed, this disservice started with Halo 4.

I’d strongly urge the leading developers to look back at the communities of Halo 2, 3, Reach and 4/H2A, so they can maintain the successful developments and improve
what went wrong. Remember Halo’s sects of fandom, the majority of us are definitely interested in more than Spartan on Spartan action. Halo Combat Evolved Cutscenes - Maw Legendary Ending HD - YouTube there’s been more to the story since the first game (on a serious note, there’s so many interesting and underdeveloped story elements within Halo).

I’ll point out that these new games have all cut content somewhere too and it’s only served to discomfort fans.

Halo needs to feel like Halo going forward. 343 bringing in a new direction is good, because my whole point is variety is the spice of life. Please, just make sure to put effort into the creation of custom game options and we’ll all be that much closer to a perfected Halo formula.

Halo 5 was disappointing but that doesn’t make it a bad Halo game, every Halo game has been disappointing in some way.

After Halo 4, I wasn’t very hard to please.

There is still a skill gap, it may not be as noticeable as the classic Halos but someone who just bought the game won’t go 30-0 their first game.

“Let down” is a synonym for disappointed.

A few things for example; random unlocks of armor in the req system, no full body armor customization, and no playable elites, lack of content at launch;but overall it was very good.
