Was dual wielding removed...

… because of armor abilities. I heard that since left bumper was the pick up second weapon button, but in reach the armor abilities were introduced, it was taken out. Maybe in the next game they can try to work it in, or if you don’t have an armor ability, you can dual wield.

Honestly, even if I dont have a problem against AAs… Dual Wielding was much cooler than AAs.

Oh yea, most definately.

Completely agree.
Some of my best memories from halo 2 are dual wielding needlers and destroying my buds in lan parties, imo the coolest gun in any game. Heat seeking pink needles that explode? whats not to like

Dual needlers. Now thats what I call OP!
lol

No, dual wielding was removed because of the balancing issues it caused.
Mainly, the fact that in order to keep it from being OP, they had to nerf most sidearms to the point of uselessness.

Basically. Although wouldn’t this be a question asked for Reach?

Yeah , and the answer would still be the same for halo 4 I think

Dual wielding was a gimmick employed by other games which Halo tried. It worked alright in campaign but multiplayer showed a lot of warts. I’ll always be fond of dual needlers and dual spikers, though. They were so much fun.

It was a generic thing then and is still one now. It didn’t really add anything to the game really also. That said, I did feel like a -Yoink!- when was dual wielding.

Did you know? Bungie was one of the first companies ever to introduce dual wielding in video games.

Might or might not be, I’d love for it to return with Y-Button for me to Dual-Wield, just like Halo 2.

ROFL Youre kidding right? Way to show youre age. There were tons of games that used dual wielding way before Halo did. God I hate create-a-fact kids.

Not all dual-wieldable weapons were useless on their. In Halo 3, the Magnum, SMG, Spiker, and Mauler were just as good alone as they were in pairs. I got plenty of kills using just 1 Magnum in Halo 3’s Rumble Pit, or even just 1 SMG.

It was the Plasma Pistol and Plasma Rifle that suffered; the Plasma Pistol was useless for killing anything up until Halo:Reach. The Plasma Rifle was still useless in Halo:Reach, unless you used it in combination with your melee attack.

Can you imagine someone dual wielding needlers while jetpacking? Or someone camping active camo with two boltshots? At least they showed some restraint.

It was mainly for balancing issues. Also the gimmick to duel wield wore out fast in halo 3/reaches MP. I guess apart of it could be due to the fact that we now has 2 armor abilities on start (sprint and whatever else) But it was mainly over balancing.

IMO i enjoy AA’s over duel wielding any day. except for flagnum. That’s just cool.

I’ve thought about it being like that, there would be a pick up second weapon option in the upper left side of your screen, like in halo 2/3, and you hold Y to pick it up. And using armor abilities makes you drop the weapon.

I like dual wielding simply for flavor, but I see the mix and match mechanic as being mostly pointless, especially considering the difficulties in mixing hitscan with projectile weapons.

I would love to see the SMG replace the SAW as the automatic power weapon, and simply have dual bullet hoses be default when you pick it up (hold x to pick up SMGs)
