Ok, so I bought the Limited Edition of Halo 4, but I’m starting to think it was a waste of an extra £30. The Specialisations were released for people who played the game before a certain date, which I’m pretty sure is more than half the Halo 4 community at the moment, whereas a lot of people will be getting the game at Christmas I’m guessing, and I’ve heard that pre-order bonuses are going to be released as DLC as well. Forward Unto Dawn is going to - or may already be - released on DVD, yet another Limited Edition special fun prize made available to people who purchased the normal version of the game. The War Games Map Pass is available for people to buy so really the only special thing you get with Limited Edition is the special case and extras such as the UNSC: Infinity blueprints and Spartan Armour schematics. I’m just starting to think that it may have been a waste to buy the Limited Edition, but what do you guys think?
Yes and no.
Game = $60
Map Pass = $25
Forward unto Dawn = $20
That’s $105.
Plus, a LOT of people didn’t get specializations even though they were supposed to. Just go through the forums and find all the people saying they didn’t get anything and qualified for it. I am sure some could be lying, but a couple of people I personally know (including my wife) didn’t get it and qualified.
All of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa was excluded from the specialization code offer. The ONLY way they received the specs. was if they bought LE.
Aside from that, I do still think the LE was a joke to begin with and I have bought LE/ Legendary Edition for every Halo since 2.
sigh
No, it wasnt a waste of money, but could have been executed better, especially the Digital content for Forward Unto Dawn
Well oer in England Limited Edition is £70, whereas the Regular Editions was around £40. Originally I thought 343i was being extremely generous, but now looking at it I think they’ve just got people spend more money on something other people can get anyway.
That forward onto dawn content needs to be knocked down to ZERO. It is easily available online for free.
Especially considering it was already on youtube and all you got was some BS bonus footage. You know how many DVDs I’ve bought where the bonus footage was worth it? NONE. Bonus footage is left out for a reason.
Taking that away, the real bonus was the early spec codes, weapon skins, and avatar gear, which is subjective in terms of price.
But the early spec codes are now available to people who played before 28th of November I think? So that kinda defeats the point of buying Limited Edition.
> But the early spec codes are now available to people who played before 28th of November I think? So that kinda defeats the point of buying Limited Edition.
Have you been keeping up with the major cluster f*** (to say the least) it has been?
It was supposed to be people who played before 11-20 got early access.
That isn’t the case at all for a whole lot of people that met the qualifications and received nothing.

the specializations were never going to be exclusive to the le
it specifically said early access which you got
what you thought only people who got the le would level up past 70 and get game changing advantages?
i seriously doubt pre order bonuses will be released as dlc but that has nothing to do with the le anyways so…
forward unto dawn was a WEB SERIES that was release before the game came out and it was also announced before the game came out that it would be released on dvd
although i do think that the le should have came with a physical dvd copy of it
the war games map pass will obviously be available for everybody i dont even know why you would be mad about that…
last gen i would have been ecstatic to get a badass limited case with any game
hell i still have my collectors edition of final fantasy xii and all it came with was a horrible bonus dvd

Hey, I knew the specs were early access of course, but all I’m saying is the only things SPECIFIC to people who did buy LE was avatar gear, emblems and weapon skins.
it was a waste of money imo.
-
forward unto dawn is available on youtube… my friend even has the LE edition saved on his flash drive. he shared it with everybody he knew; not a bad film, but i wouldn’t pay more than $5 for a physical copy.
-
specialization codes… just wow, poorly planned out. specialization codes should’ve never been given out. they should’ve just let 1 specialization code out 1 every 2 weeks or something like that. that should show how much appreciation there are for buying th LE. LE buyers deserves to be treated better than this.
-
map pass, they screw up big time on this.
-
recruit prime armor skin… sarcasm enjoy showing it off in-game.
-
steel game case… not that great of a design; i hear that the quality of the case could’ve been better.
-
everything else not mentioned was not worth mentioning in my post.
i bought the halo 4 limited edition console and i would say, that was the best deal out of all. we haven’t been screwed yet, so… so far so good.
i already received my free specialization code, got the first map pack for free, saw forward unto dawn for free, and was fortunate enough to receive a free recruit prime armor for my avatar.
the steel game case would’ve been nice to have, but again… it’s just a case that won’t be touched much or seen often.

yeah but that was obvious from the beginning
if anyone feels they wasted their money on it then it is their own fault for not researching what they are buying
and therefore have no right to complain about it imo

True words there, but my case wasn’t even steel, just a sort of ‘reinforced cardboard’

No of course nobody would have thought only the LE buyers would have access to specializations. But they specifically announced that the other 6 specializations would not be made available until “a later date in early 2013.” This enticed me. I am just about to get my first specialization and have had no time to enjoy early access as the SE players who did get a code have already been long enjoying them simply by playing more than me and actually now have an advantage on me.
It was poorly executed and what was advertised changed on the fly arbitrarily just like so many of the other DLC and early access flubs that have been made.
So yes, I feel my LE was a waste. I didn’t need to spend the extra cash on metal case. But I digress. Oh well, enjoying the game despite the issues. Can’t wait for more of the problems to get sorted in the near future.

I did do the research. Items included were mis-marketed and changed on the fly.

what was changed?
excluding fud i already said that was crap
It was definitely a waste considering the state of the game.
Pure and Simple Yes.
Then again, you have to take into consideration this is 343i’s first Halo game, but I still don’t think thats an excuse. They’re simply making a bad first impression and Halo 5’s sales won’t be as big as people will think they’ll have the same problems. But hopefully 343i will be more experienced and Halo 5 won’t have these problems.

well?..
im not bashing anybody im just trying to figure out the complaints
it seems to me you got everything that was advertises

Most of 343 is composed of former Bungie employees and other people that have worked on games before. This is no excuse
