So Halo 5 Guardians is getting closer and closer to release. I am very excited to get my hands on Warzone because I’m all in for giant battles.
I really like the way Warzone is put, with the bases, power core, bosses, etc. I think every map would have a similar concept, but I had this cool idea.
What if each Warzone map had it’s own objective/simulation kind of mission?
Probably doesn’t make sense, but let me explain with this concept I came up with.
Escape from A.R.C. has a cutscene that begins with a team’s pelicans flying toward their base. As they get closer, there is a Phantom/Phaeton/some other vehicle that fires them and all of them crash(kinda like Outskirts from Halo 2) Each team’s crash-site is outside of their team home base, but the team home bases were taken over by Covenant/Prometheans and they’re shielded.
The capture points on the map(like the garage and other 2 areas) have their same functionality in a regular Warzone match. You go there, clear enemies, and capture it. You can call in REQs as well.
So in Warzone as we know right now, there are 2 ways to win. Get 1000 points or destroy the enemy team’s core.
In this concept, you don’t win based on kills, boss takedowns, etc. The point-counter to 1000 points is now a percentage counter of your base’s shield level. The counter is at 100%. The capture points are what they usually are, but are also the shield generators. When you first start the match, they are guarded by Covenant/Promethean forces. Kill them, capture the base, and the shield generator counter starts going down.
One Capture Point: -1% every 10 seconds
Two Capture Points: -1% every 7 seconds
All Three Capture Points: -1% every 5 seconds
Of course, it will go down very slowly if you only have one capture point and it won’t go down at all if your team has no capture points. The more capture points/shield generators your hold, the faster your team’s base-shield counter goes down. As said before, the REQ system is how it normally is.
However in this, let’s say the A.I. of the Covenant and Prometheans are a bit different. Phantoms fly in and drop off troops at the capture points and if no one is there/they manage to kill the reds, they can capture them back. The shields don’t go up again though, but if a team had captured the base and it is taken back by the A.I. team, the shield-disabling from that point will be lost and they have to recapture it to gain it again.
Now bosses are still in. This objective isn’t based on killing enemies as said before. But taking down bosses helps bring down the shields to your base. Small bosses(Soldier Enforcer/Elite General) offer -5% in shields and larger bosses(Baron 'Sraom, Master Intex) offer -10%. So bosses are still valuable targets nonetheless.
Now unlike regular Warzone where capturing all 3 points means the enemy’s core in vulnerable to get destroyed for an instant victory, there isn’t a second way to instantly win while your team has all points. However, the core is still implemented.
So after your home base’s shields are down, you can go in and take it back from the Covenant/Prometheans. However, you’re not done yet. There is a final boss that’s in your home base and you have to defeat it in order to win and take back control of the base. The boss has a lot of health and is hard to take on alone, so a lot of teamwork would be necessary to take it down. However, you’re still vulnerable. While a good amount of your team is working together to take down the boss, your core is open and vulnerable. The enemy team can go to your base and destroy and get the victory themselves. If you kill the boss before the enemy team destroys your core, then your team will have gained control of your base’s operations and the core will get locked, and the enemy team won’t be able to destroy it, and your team are the victors.
Also, if you guys are wondering what happens to the enemy’s base that is still captured by the enemy base, I guess they just automatically destroy the core and retreat after realizing one of the bosses have been killed? I don’t know, I guess that works out. Haha.
But that’s a concept I have for a Warzone map objective. My main point of this post would be asking if you guys think it might be cool to have unique map-specific objectives. This was my concept for an objective on Escape From A.R.C. so I’m saying it wouldn’t be the same objective for other Warzone maps like March on Stormbreak or Raid on Apex 7.
Also, I’m not saying replace the current idea with the simple kill enemies and get to 1000 points. I’m saying this as an idea. Maybe like 2 separate modes, both the map objective, and standard 1000 kill objective. Not saying replace one or get rid of one.
Anyways, what do you guys think? Both on my idea and my idea of Warzone unique map objectives. If you guys like the idea and have an idea for a cool concept yourself, feel free to post yours. I love reading people’s ideas.
(And yes, I thought very hard about this. That’s what hype does to me. I get all creative and think of different ideas and stuff. WOOO HALO 5 HYPE! Heh heh.)
