While I am a fan of the Wasp and I feel it fills in a good niche, I have a problem that there is very little that a team can do about 2-3 of them in the air as early in the game as they are appearing.
I’ve had some matches where the enemy team spawns 2 or 3 of them into the match and there is no coming back from it. They are so incredibly oppressive early on in the match and there is very little that a team can do to counteract them. There are no real anti-air weapons at ReQ level 3 and when the enemy team can lock you down to one base that quickly they just get even farther ahead in ReQ levels and there is no way to recover from it.
I’ve had far too many Warzone games go this way as of late and I feel that either the aircrafts need to be adjusted and made weaker so ground forces can actually take them down/ anti-air weapons need to be lowered in ReQ levels so these aircraft can be dealt with (standard hydra being lvl 3 instead of level 4?)/ or the aircraft ReQ levels need to be adjusted up a level across the board (minus phaetons).
I still stand by my opinion that it is fine where it is. Its armor and shields are almost paper thin, so concentrated fire from loadout weapons (especially Kinetic Bolt Assault Rifles) can bring standard Wasps down quickly. In addition to that, Chaingun Turrets can make for excellent anti-aircraft weapons if used properly. The ONI and Sword Needler Warthogs are also capable of bringing Wasps down at level 3. There’s also the Plasma Pistol, which even gives you the opportunity to turn that aerial firepower against them.

K-Bolt BR is ReQ level 4. Again this puts the game in a situation where you have to rely on a 4th level ReQ to take out a ReQ 3 aircraft. If you don’t get the extra exp from capping a base you start off only at ReQ 2. Which is not acceptable. This still leaves the Wasp as a lower ReQ level than K-Bolt BR which is wrong balance wise. This is the same reason people -Yoinked!- about aircraft in the second wave. You don’t get enough EXP to take them out and it takes 4-6 Spartans worth of concentrated fire to take one out. That is just not something that happens in warzone until you’re pushed back into your core and by that time the game is already all but lost.

As I said in my other response, this just doesn’t happen in Warzone unless you’re in a large squad and everyone actually listens to whomever is giving orders (if that’s even happening) half the time people in warzone are so concerned with their own single play that they don’t bother to work with or for their team. Even with warthogs there is still a misbalance of the ReQ’s because one warthog is generally not enough to take out a Wasp as the damage just doesn’t stick to them.

Well you can Kinetic Bolt AR at REQ level 2. The Wasp can be bring down by concentrated fire especially if everyone is using Kinetic Bolts AR against the Wasp.

The Kenetic AR and chaingun are available at req level 2 and the plasma pistol is available at req level 3. I think thats plenty to take it down. I wouldn’t say you need 4-6 spartans to take it down more like 2 or 3. If you play it smart and shoot its weak points from behind cover its pretty easy to kill.
I’ve had Warzone Assault games like this where the enemy team would spam wasps ASAP. It depends on how your team reacts, unfortunately. They can bend over and get destroyed or play smart and load up on kinetic bolts and EMP weapons.
I did have to put on my mic and tell the team to use kinetic ARs once. Probably three or four actually did and we burned through a Wasp very quickly.

Again concentrated fire is just something that doesn’t happen in warzone. Players are too busy doing their own thing instead of working with their team. There needs to be a single Spartan answer to the aircraft issue because players are uncooperative in Warzone.

Well the Wasp is a big flying target to look at. Wouldn’t make sense for the enemy to ignore a enemy Wasp flying over their homebase alone.
And as I write this I got dropped into a warzone match where the enemy is up 400 to 112, an Oni Wasp and a Standard Wasp killing me the second I spawned in with ReQ level 3. You all want to tell me this isn’t a problem? People are quitting out of matches because of this… it is an issue and it needs to be addressed immediately.

That there now is bad game design. Never touched Warzone because the match tends to become one-sided (mostly). Also the pilot of that Wasp gotta be a good pilot and knows how to deal with oncoming fire.

The problem is by the time it is flying over your home base the enemy team probably has you three capped, has ReQ level 5 or 6 across the board and you’re trying to defend with ReQ level 3-4 against multiple banshees and wasps that you just can’t fight against. There is such a lack effective anti-aircraft weapons there is little to nothing you can do as a single player to counter it. And I am sorry but players do ignore a single Wasp, the problem is by the time it becomes two-three aircraft there is nothing you can really do to counter it. Proof positive is the game I just got dropped into because the players on the team had quit. Moved into the Warzone with ReQ level 3; I died on spawn to a Oni Wasp. We lose the armory, now we’re pushed into our base and there are scorpions and wraiths also outside our base; the enemy then spent 9 minutes farming kills instead of winning the game. So we joined at 4:18 into the game were three capped by 6 mins and spent 9 minutes just repeatedly dying in our base.
Honestly I don’t think Warzone should fill slots in on a losing team. if the players are quitting out of the match there is a reason… so frustrating to lose another game that I had no chance to even make an impact on… there needs to be more balance to counteract these things.

That there is the big problem I got with Warzone. The game tends to become one-sided and with the players on the losing side giving no hope to make comeback out of it. In the end, it’s not about the REQs themselves. It’s the game design Warzone is designed around.
With you spawning and then a ONI Wasp shooting down. There are 2 factors:
The spawning where you got shot down - The ongoing situation happening during the timeWith the first point. This has been going on for quite sometime. I saw a video of someone shooting down a Phaeton with a Spartan Laser as soon as he spawned. So I don’t know how 343i is gonna fix it.
With the second point. You said the opposing team have higher REQs than you? Correct? In that case that is down to Warzone’s game design and IMO it’s terrible giving no fun to the losing side. There are times where randoms have to deal with a coordinated fireteams which I hope 343i adds a filter system where fireteams are more likely encounter another team of fireteams.
Please tell me how the Wasps are not a problem that so many players would quit out of a warzone match like that… 2 Wasps was all it took, then the whole team quit…
343 Please help! Warzone is being ruined…
The proof is in the pudding look at the top player on the winning team, Tool of Destruction (Wasp) 5 kills…
This is an epidemic…

I’m not sure but could it be that older accounts with every thing unlocked have a lower chance of getting them and newer accounts that unlock the wasp are getting them more often. - They don’t listening cause they don’t look into it. It’s not that unusual for information to appear to be contractive. (I’m assuming you mean other waypointers)
Before they added the new variants I was getting some thing like 4 phaetons to every wasp at best in a mass spend of 50 plus gold or 100 silvers with a total of 4-7 phaetons roughly. Phaetons are still more common but I can really figure out the drop rate of wasps some times I get 3-5 some times I get non at all but it’s closer to the phaetons drop rate.
