Is it just me or is anyone else tired of 30 second spawn times that deny you even the chance to attempt to finish off the boss that you had been pouring round after round into just because you made a minor mistake and died? I’d be fine with a 15 second respawn timer but 30 seconds seems way too long if you ask me.
My theory is it’s because you’re forced to wait in the REQ menus, which means more time to potentially use a REQ, and that could lead to a pack purchase with real money post-game. I hate the long wait times as well. There’s no point in Firefight because you can’t constantly throw bodies at bases like you can in Warzone. In Firefight, it just makes the mode less fun.
It wouldn’t be so bad if we could choose which base to spawn at in firefight. It’s not just 30 seconds, it’s 30 seconds+the time it takes to watch your vehicle come out of the base and drive it to the objective, which is sometimes across the map, disproportionately affecting the use of slower vehicles like Scorpions. It seems like 343 didn’t even take that into consideration when they decided on the respawn times. I don’t think it was necessary to punish us with the respawn timer when we’re already being punished by not being able to spawn anywhere near the objective most of the time.

Possibly, but then again, if people could constantly throw bodies and reqs at the bosses over and over, without worrying about a long respawn timer, it would cause them to burn through reqs faster, making it more likely they’ll purchase a pack. So maybe not having such a stupid long respawn timer would have been a win-win situation for everyone. Oh well.

Yeah, that’s a good point too. Idk, Firefight has a lot of these small things that add up to be very annoying when trying to simply have a good time. There’s plenty of room for improvement and I’m betting we’ll see a huge update for 5 around the time of the release of the next Xbox. At least I’m hoping there is so there’s a real reason for me to go back to the game again.

I hope so too. They can start by letting us choose which base to respawn at, making Phantom guns destructible, and doing something about how useless weapons are compared to vehicles. And of course tweaking the respawn timer if needed. It seems kind of silly that those glaring problems haven’t been addressed yet, considering it’s one of Halo 5’s most popular modes
Sadly it was just a lazy…errr I mean easy way to make a penalty for dying that players requested when firefight first rolled out. There were complaints about how you could essentially die as much as you wanted … So they added the lame respawn timers. The way it should work is it should be based on individual performance. You should get say one death then after than each death adds say three seconds to your respawn timers. There for if it’s a long time it’s your fault.
I kinda wish they’d add an endless mode, maybe Infinite will have it? I used to love seeing how long my friends and I could last in straight up firefight. Now we have this 5 round thing so it ends way too soon with even a competent team (and even sooner if you’ve got people doing god knows what that isn’t productive).
But yeah, the timer is ridiculous; it’s to the point that, even if you’re doing well and you die on the last round, nothing you do will matter. You’ll lose RP and XP because you died and that gave everyone right behind you the chance to take your spot. Effectively punishing you for something probably out of your control because you weren’t able to dodge that Incineration Cannon or that Wraith or even the Warden Eternal. So now you have to wait for 30 seconds, then hike your butt all across the map, only to find the last enemies are being destroyed and you’ve gone from second place to 5th.
I’d honestly be happy if they let you cut your respawn timer down by paying req levels (not actually COSTING you them as in you have to earn them again, but costing you like it would to use a req pack in game.). Or maybe depending on the rarity or req level requirement of a requisition you bought could potentially cut your respawn timer down? (Obviously compensating for deployment times if you and another person choose a vehicle and are deployed from the same spot.)
I empathise here. People don’t play games to sit in wait states for inordinate amounts of time.
There’s more I could add to this, but long story short – I’m actually less likely, to use (much less purchase more) Reqs. It’s too iffy to use them. You might get some use, or the game might just decide to insta-kill you, in a legendary vehicle with wheelman active, anyway.
I think they should’ve did the opposite with the timer. Make round one have a thirty second timer and round five have the shortest one, but you would probably get more quitters that way. Either way, the long timer isn’t good.
I think they should have made WZFF like the multiplayer from mass effect 3, 10 waves of enemies trying to kill you and your fireteam with objectives every other round you have to complete or lose the game and instead of respawn timers they could have used the revive system from H5 campaign. (Oh and we need a Flood horde survival mode with CE shotgun)
