Not only did I purchase the Halo 5 console, but I also purchased (a week later when the game released) the limited edition halo 5 disc, so that I may also have the limited edition PRINT of the disc, so i didn’t have to just sort of deal with the original disc print from the limited edition code from Microsoft. You know that little deal they were doing if you wanted the physical copy of the game from the digital ones you get with both the $250 edition of the game and the $500 dollar system, you could get the physical copy if you opt in with microsoft.
Let me roll it back a little bit for 343I’s sake, I purchased the system on 10/20th when the digital/physical bundles released. Opened it up, and found the “Steel case” that came with the system and just shook my head when I found that it didn’t even come with a disc slot attached to it. Yeah that means 343I requested a portion of the metal cases made to come with a regular plastic shielding inside the case, without a little prong for a disc to be set in. First I cannot tell you how ridiculous that is especially when 343I got so much bad feedback from putting the digital copy of the game in with the system. Now I understand I knowingly bought the system with a full understanding that it was to come with a digital copy of the game, but when you advertise said system saying it comes with basically the limited edition of the game with the exception of said physical disc, one has to wonder that you would just mass produce the same silly case.
Here is what I didn’t know going into my purchases. The 27th rolls around and like alot of halo fans, I am in yet again for the midnight release (since I left out that detail about being there for the midnight for the system a week before) and I purchase said copy of my limited edition, with the fancy and pretty limited edition print of blue and red and awesome, and it even came with a pretty paper sleeve of the same color and design. I carefully peel back the plastic when i get home and pop the disc in my system, (this steel case of course having the little plastic perch of a disc holder, that was actually pre-molded into the plastic, just so you know that they were not trying to save money on plastic little disc holders that cost extra to install in the cases or something,) and I let install all night. The next morning after I see its finally done installing, I grab all of my req codes I stocked up on from my figures of blue team (Minus linda because for some reason Todd McSpawnsux doesn’t understand who she is or that blue team actually has four members) and the master chief controller (Which I had 2 of actually because I had to return the first controller because of it being defective) and one at a time did I put them in… go in game… open the pack… then went back to menu to input another code.
I got all my req packs except one. Mailed to me later that day was my opted disc that i had just a few days before sent in to microsoft so I could get a physical copy for my limited edition system. I wasn’t shocked when i opened it to find the regular copy of the game. I wasn’t even upset by that because I could totally see that happening. I was actually impressed that it had gotten to me pretty much next day shipping since I waited until just two days before the launch, which is a sunday mind you, to do the swap for the code. What I was upset about was that even 2 days after receiving said promo copy for the swap, that I still didn’t receive my email for my Req bundle and Halo channel stuff. This was a full day before the sticky post in this section was put up, about the double req bundles. I called Microsoft and they told me to wait a couple more days to see if it pops up because some other people were having the same issue. So i did, and on Nov 1st I finally submitted a ticket to live chat someone. The guy was able to get the code for the halo channel stuff, which he sent. (Note I didn’t need the halo channel stuff since I already had redeemed all of that with the one use code from the limited edition print of the game, but I went ahead and redeemed it anyway and wasn’t surprised when no packs were available to open) He told me that he would keep the ticket open though because they were having issues getting the 2nd code to generate and as soon as it got fixed would he email me the code. I thanked him and said that was fine and went on my merry day.
Two days later no code.so I am on as I write this with Microsoft again, trying to get this additional code for my req packs. Somewhere in this live chat I started to write this little rant because they are denying me my code even though they KNOW I purchased both the limited system and limited disc. Which totals out to a good $650 dollars give or take plus whatever the tax is… because its a one time use thing and they see that per my account I have already redeemed that code when I first got the limited edition copy of the game.
At that point I went on to the forums to see where it says I can’t have multiple bundles… and was just flat out disappointed to see that I can’t purchase two warzone bundles and get double to req packs…
First I’d like to state that both of the controller packs worked, even though they were for the same controller. No it didn’t give me 2 of the same visors that it comes with, but it did give me a full pack with some other sort of goody that wasn’t already unlocked. So you can imagine my frustration when i come to find today when i actually look up my issue about this on the forums since just to the right of this giant rant of thievery, do i have microsoft up in a chat support telling me I cannot have double of the code I purchased…
Drawing to the conclusion of the live chat now, and Microsoft is trying to generate me a code for an additional 14 packs. Apparently they’re having more “Tool Issues” and are asking me to contact them back in a couple of hours, which I am promptly refusing… However even if they are able to get me a new code, which this customer service agent is very much trying to get me to exit out of the chat for something I don’t full trust that they will go through with, are they going to just generate me a code for the req bundle which has already been stated, will not work twice… or will they generate me 14 codes for warzone packs… this is bothersome 343I.
So i’m trying to clear up some info for this pack they’re promising me as exactly 14 additional packs… I’m asking how I will receive them if it will give me now 4 packs a week or just the same 2, and extend the time frame that I receive said 2 a week… I get a “As far as I know once you have the REQ packs code, there’s no need for the 2-packs per week. You will be able to have the 14 packs right away.” I have the email to back this chat up by the way 343I… if this code… if I even get it… doesn’t work I’d like to know what my next option is, if you will even honor one.
I typed up a whole lot of anger in this one post… more so then what it would allow to fit. I took it off, but I want some closure… This could have all been avoided 343I. Now that Phil Spencer basically will let you guys do what you want… its evident from the monstrosity of that story… and you now have one solid hell of a multiplayer, make halo 6 a story worth remembering… and not for it being just so freaking awful that we can’t erase it from our minds.
