On Warzone - I have yet to play a conventional Warzone match, just sticking mainly to Firefight so far. Are you fighting A.I. as well or only enemy Spartans? Are there battles where you’re teaming up with the opposing team to take down Wardens for instance? Is it pointless to play conventional warzone if I don’t have a team?
Reqs - I’m basically opting for Silver packs until all Greys and Greens are unlocked. Seems like the armor, helmets, and emblems will take forever. Is this the optimal strategy?
Also, having been a halfway decent Reach player (first six months or so notwithstanding), I find the matchmaking quite different and tough to get used to in Halo 5. Just an observation.

In conventional warzone you don’t team up with the other team to take down bosses. Whichever team gets the kill shot on the boss their team gets the points. There is advantages and disadvantages to that but I like that it is that way because it makes it a bit tougher for teams to get that runaway score going. I know there were plenty of times where I was able to “steal” a couple of boss kills and it turns the tide of the game. As far as having a team for warzone it is better to have one but it’s not necessary IMO. I am a solo gamer and have played plenty of regular Warzone. Sure you get games where you could be facing a team and they may stomp you but that can happen in any game mode with teams really. You don’t necessarily need a lot of reqs for regular Warzone but it can help. You really just need to know what req to use at certain times you help your team or what ever you want to accomplish. For example if you are going after bosses usually vehicles are the way to go. But if you are defending a base or something you may want good cqc weapons like shotgun or fuel rode if you are trying to capture base or armory you may want plasma caster or saws. If you are trying to stop enemy vehicles you need laser or plasma pistols.
To add to what the other guy said, don’t stop buying silvers until all the rares (blues) are also finished. Although, some rares aren’t in the req system, so once you start getting points instead of unlockables, move on to gold.
Regular Warzone: Red vs Blue team, first team to 1000 wins. You get points for your team by capturing territories and killing enemy Spartans. AI appear on the map that attack both Red and Blue Spartans. The team that successfully kills the AI boss units add points to their team’s score. You can shoot an AI boss alongside an enemy Spartan, but only the one who gets the kill-shot will get points for their team. In Warzone Assault, there are no AI and only Red Spartans vs Blue Spartans, with one team trying to defend 3 zones and the other trying to capture those zones before time runs out.
You can go into Warzone as a solo player and it will put you on a team with other people. However, you may find that you don’t like the way those random teammates are playing, or you may find yourself matched against enemy Spartans who are in a part together. It’s always better to go in with your own party rather than alone. However if you have a party of 12, the game will only try to match you against other parties of 12.
Your strategy for unlocking REQs is the most efficient method, as if you were to only buy Gold packs then it would mean you would need more total RP to unlock everything. Buy Silver Packs until every common, uncommon, and rare permanent is unlocked; you’ll know when that happens because you’ll start getting 2 1500 RP cards from silver packs instead of permanent items. Also note that some things like the mongoose commendations can only be gotten from Bronze Packs.
Matchmaking in Halo 5 will feel different now because it is a 2 year old game and struggling to balance fair matchmaking with speedy matchmaking.

The few games of Social Slayer and even Fiesta I’ve played have been against significantly better players for sure. I played 10 ranked FFA matches to get the CSR achievement and play a couple Social slayer matches each day until I get a win for the REQ pack.
Coming into the game this late means I’ll likely stick to Warzone and will definitely give conventional Warzone a try at least.
I’ll definitely make sure I’m in at the start for the next Halo game.
For packs you’re doing it correct
for online its practice. Fundamentally it’s tbe same game if you were good at old titles it should be easy to learn how to play halo 5 granted you’re gonna have to want it. It’s not something you can just pick up and expect to be good off the bat without trying (that comes later).

SecretFace, that there is solid advice from LethalQ.
If you’d like to do more warzone and war zone assault feel free to friend me mate
. My company (Wolf Team Saber) and I rock warzone 98% of the time and we are pretty lethal. Be happy to have you join some games and maybe even our company if it was to your liking.
Cheers.
I started buying the Bronze REQ packs until they stopped unlocked Common things, then I’m now buying only Silver REQ packs until they decide to stop unlocking Common, Less Common and Rare things. At the moment I have unlocked most hard things like Assassinations, Visors, Stances and Weapons Skins; yes it still need a few but I’m almost to start buying Gold REQ packs.
Well Warzone has many variants, Firefight Heroic and Legendary that is only against the A.I and the other variants that is team against team and the I.A
