Warzone noob

I have no idea why people enjoy warzone. I don’t enjoy it at all but thats probably because Im terrible at it. Id like to give it a second chance. Any tips for a total warzone noob?

One thing I learned the hard way is that you have to follow the REQ progression of the game. For example, after the first fourth of the game or so is when small vehicles pop up. Later, things like Banshees and ONI Wasps. Last part is tanks and Mantises. The point is that if you’re not keeping tabs on the REQ’s being brought in, one bad REQ will destroy your performance in-game.

Next tip is to call in certain REQ’s for certain jobs. If the map is littered with Mantises and tanks, a SPNKr EX or Spartan Laser will do nicely. If you’re trying to clean up an enemy base for your teammates, a Sword/Camo combo is optimal. Every weapon has its job, and that’s how you should be calling in REQ’s. If you’re somewhat inexperienced with the weapons, Super Fiesta is the go-to for learning how to use them.

If if you can also master map movement with the other two tips, you should be golden.

BenTennysonOMNI gave a great rundown on how to be successful in WZ, Was there anything specific that you didn’t like about WZ?

Also, going in to Warzone solo can be very difficult and disheartening. Try going in with a group and you can coordinate some and have much more fun

Check out YouTube, some very helpful folks on there. Be advised that some updates have been made to Warzone and weapons so some advice may be dated, but a lot of it is still very useful.

I never understood how the reqs worked and it feels too slow.

  • Luke has a lot of good tips videos, for Warzone and Arena.Nas aka Precellence - https://www.youtube.com/user/xALTAFOOTBALLx
  • Nas has a playlist called “Best REQs Series” where he outlines REQs he thinks are the most useful. He also has a bunch of videos of 6 and 12 man teams duking it out. You can definitely learn a lot from watching how these very competitive players use REQs, etc.

Your REQ level can be leveled up by capturing bases, killing enemy Spartans, and killing AI bosses. Defeating bosses (Enemies with a health bar or target marker) will give a REQ boost to everyone on your team. While killing minions like Grunts and Soldiers only boost your personal REQ level. So it’s in your best interest to be going after everything.

Also as time progresses your REQ level will gradually increase 1 REQ level at a time, but don’t expect it to be a game changer. You still need to be actively going for Spartan kills and other things.

Lukethenotable has some great videos on YouTube with some tips on how to be better and play a little smarter

I’ve played a lot of Warzone, and I love it. But like other’s above me have said,Use certain req’s in certain situations, like for instance, if you have a round with banshees, get the anti wraith and just shoot the banshees. (Scorpion could work too!)

It would really depend on the game mode you play but for a beginner start with heroic firefight.

Rule of thumb: get as many REQ unlocks and build up your inventory as much as possible before you even consider going into normal Warzone. Going in with the bare essentials won’t get you very far.

The trick to Warzone gametypes are the REQs. First, you have to unlock them and that can take a while to get the ones you want or need. And then second, you need to learn to use them efficiently. Warzone will then become a lot more interesting, for now just let those WZ boosts pile up and wait until you feel confident enough to play it.

It’s a real shame that Warzone gametypes are the best ways to raise your XP/RP. Even a loss is significantly better than a lot of the Arena/Ranked playlists victories.
Infection nets you a pretty decent amount of XP/RP too.

But if you really don’t want to worry about REQs just yet, your best option is to find a team of players that are equal or better skilled.

I personally enjoy being able to do whatever I want, without having people complain about it, I can snipe without getting past some random camping the weapon spawn, I can use a tank without waiting for it to respawn, I can use any item at my disposal whenever I want

To jump on this point to make it more relevant, if you plan on queuing up to regular WZ or WZ Assault, don’t get disheartened if you join up a match and get curbstomped. I solo queued for a WZA for the first time in a long time. My team couldn’t get out of spawn on Temple, and the other team basically just kill farmed us.

Try anything to get into a group before doing it. Given your initial question, I’d actually avoid solo queuing entirely. Either that or just farm WZFF for RP until you feel like you can compete.

Warzone… What I’ve learned over the last 2-1/2 years is… you go for objectives, points. Just like every game the team with the most points wins. The objective of any game is, “Win”, more RP + XP points from boosts etc… Teams need a balance of players, defensive, offensive and objective. A balance of game play in a team is crucial or you lose the game. If you want consecutive wins, team up with friends and use mics. If you team up and use mics you will be cursed bye all randoms which happen to hold the majority of players in WZ… lol. Good Luck and just have fun!!!
