Warzone - Mini Bosses

Question who, if any knows, is Master Intex?

From what little I’ve seen of the gameplay, they all tend to go down pretty quickly. Except for the promethean aircraft - that one stuck around for a while with two people shooting at it in their own aircraft, but all the other bosses seemed… Very un-boss like. Unless the bosses start off easy in the early game and get tougher as the battle rages on?

I noticed their health bar with the yellow triangle and skull inside too.

Yeah. But halo has always had a health system on enemies. Even MC did on Halo CE and the Spartans and playable elites in halo reach. Only thing that makes it like Destiny now is that we actually see it on bosses and only bosses. To add strategy to the matches.

I was reading a post that some guys would sit back and let the enemy team whittle down the boss. And because they could see the health bar. They would pop out of hiding at the right time and kill the enemy and boss without much struggle.

Destiny had it in because it’s a RPG. They always have health bars

I really believe the Mini-Bosses of Warzone need to be more fleshed out and less of strong copycats of their classes… in other words, unique gameplay elements that make the battle change, something that creates that feeling of “Oh crap the boss is here” or “Now I know why this guy is the leader” or “This guy really strong and dangerous”… I am talking about unique powers and traits that are pre-set in their code and they use it corresponding to certain locations, scenarios and battle outcomes.

Video Game Boss Aspects

  • Independent of Player; AI Interaction etc. - Dependant on Player; Certain Range, Ability Use etc. - Relationship to other AI and players; Pack-Orientated, Primitive Display etc. - AI Behaviour; Aggressive, Passive etc. - Spawn-able NPC AI Reinforcements; Distractions, Pressure etc. - Emotional Impact; Deception, Hate etc. - Unique Abilties, Berserk, Immunity etc. - Unique Strength Buffs; Health, Damage etc. - Unique Weaknesses; Plasma Weaponry, Ballistics etc. - Unique Appearance (Appearance, Weapons, Vehicles); Fist of Rukt, War Paint etc. - Time Progression; Time of Survival, Phases of Battle etc. - Immersion; Canon Names etc.

So many ways to make bosses awesome! Will keep this thread alive and post some updates in the near future.

Im very intrigued by the bosses even if it is similar to destiny but what do you expect some of the developers are former bungie employees after all some things will be similar and health bars just so happen to look the same, who can complain its a nice HUD display imo.

Well the Promethean Knight Strategos is from the Greek word Στρατηγός, which means captain, general or army leader. It’s interesting that 343i is using Greek words for Promethean related stuff, like the Phaeton.

Something makes me think they would get harder as you progressed in the game, and more point values would be given due to their difficulty increase. That’s just speculation, but usually with any game, it gets harder as you progress.

Yep, once you put a health bar on an enemy they have copied destiny

True, never seen it before destiny lol

Is there anything Destiny did that hadn’t already been done by Borderlands?

And that’s not even getting into health bars on enemies are definitely not new when one looks outside the FPS genre. One could probably find them earlier on less popular FPS titles too.

Cordycept - Digital Exarch

This dude was in the Sprint

My thoughts exactly, These bosses are too destiny like in that they are basically bullet sponges, and 343 has SOOOOOOOO much canon to draw from! could you imagine flood bosses, tartarus, the arbiter, chief or something like that? it’s basically what warzone needs to put it over the top, also they should not place a waypoint on the boss and make it so easy to find them

In The Sprint Season 2 episode 1, at 7:07-7:14 we see a Boss Called Cordycept - Digital Exarch. It seems to be the same enemy type as The Warden Eternal. As well has holding the Same Hardlight Blade as the Warden it is also able to transform the Blade into an energy sphere that can kill a Spartan in one hit. It also has deplorable 3 Hardlight Shields(like the ones used in the Hardlight Shield armor ability) than float and spin around it or move to defect in coming shots.

The Digital Exarch seems more like a one of the Humanoid sized Bosses for the Metroid Prime Games than the ones from Destiny. Also none of the Bosses I’ve seen are quite as big nor do they have the stupid big bullet sponge heath. The biggest I’ve seen was from of Promethean Knight and its health still wasn’t any bigger than a Wraith or a Mantis. There are bosses in Destiny that take up to 30 minutes of nonstop firing to kill. None of the bosses in Warzone are that bad. Plus we can use vehicles to kill them.

I wish we saw Bosses instrad of “Mini Bosses” like Tartarus, Jul Mdama, Ripa Moramee…
Yes I’m mentionating some dead enemies, but why not? It’s just a gameplay mode and would be awesome!

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. Define “boss” and “mini-boss”.

They did say that the E3 build of Warzone was tweaked to be a faster game than the final product so that they could get as many people going through on the show floor. It’s possible they made them weaker to speed the game up.

Well I understand “mini-boss” simply Elites with other colours with more health
With “Boss” I’m refering to characters with their own name, maybe characters seen in other Halo games like Tartarus or Jul!
