Warzone Might Be Better If...

Let me start off by saying that after watching the E3 reveal and the ViDoc, I love Warzone. I think it’s about time Halo had a game mode like this. It looks fresh, epic, and appears to have a little something for everyone. Label me a fan.

That said, I had a few ideas that I think would have made Warzone a little better. I’d be interested to know what you guys think, so please drop a comment after reading.

  • Make it a Spartan vs. Elite gametype, where the UNSC is facing off against Jul 'Mdama’s Covenant faction. - The AI bosses would be “hero” characters, and would fight alongside their faction. You would have to try to take out your enemy’s hero while defending your own. maybe even have the hero try to accomplish an objective of some sort, which would earn a substantial amount of points for their team if successfully completed. EDIT: Let’s assume that the hero AI are more dangerous than the regular AI. Smarter, tougher, etc. - Have forward camps. In other words, have small pseudo-bases up for grabs which allow the use of the armory and garage for your team after being captured. They wouldn’t contribute points to your score, they would just be an extra stockpile and spawn location closer to the action. (I suppose this may already be a thing, but I didn’t hear anyone mention stockpiles aside from the main bases, so this idea makes the list.) - Dominion-style defenses that can be activated after successful capture of a base or forward camp that could be upgraded if the base/camp is held long enough. Upgrades would be things like shield doors, barriers, hedgehogs (to stop vehicles from getting within a certain distance), and different types of manned and automated turrets (Machine Gun, Gauss, Rocket, Missle Pod?).Well, that’s all I’ve got guys. please let me know what you think.

All of this. The current model of Spartans vs. Spartans with Covenant and Promethans is cool, but I feel like it might be more like a battle if it was Humans vs. Covenant with like 20 bots and a few bosses on each side

Yeah, I was kind of hoping for a lore-based multiplayer mode that wasn’t Spartan vs Spartan in War Games. I feel like it would have been a great way to incorporate Elites into the multiplayer.

Thanks for your feedback.

I’m not sure about the Hero thing as AI are kind of easy to kill and not really intelligent enough to be considered worthwhile IMO I could see games ending incredibly quickly in this case as with the new card system thing what would stop me spawning in with a snipe run to a good vantage point and then sniping your Hero withing the first minute to 30 seconds?

I think it may be better with your idea if it was more of a search and rescue gametype? So Spartan team has held captive Jul or someone and the Covenant have Chief or someone. They could be held in bases prison cells or something behind forcefields and the objective would be to take down the generators free your hero and escort them back to base. I think perhaps the Hero’s should be invincible but be able to be downed? So the enemy team can down your Hero and you would need to revive them to move on. Also while in a downed state perhaps if the enemy team is close to your hero at this point they can escort your Hero back to there base again to defend and take prisoner once again.

  • Weapon spawns on map

Yeah, so up the AI… Make them less like pushovers and more like the real deal. That should be on the list, the AI look utterly superfluous. I really hope they’re not cannon fodder like in Titanfall, point bait, but actually pose some kind of threat. Not once in the trailer did I see the AI kill anyone.

Yeah, sorry I should have specified. I was just assuming that the AI were going to be a bit smarter and tougher, at least the hero AI.

So let’s just assume for argument’s sake that the hero AI would be a much smarter/tougher AI that could actually put up a fight. How do you like the idea on paper?

well i want to try their version first and if it isn’t fun then we can try the things you bring up.

What if they turn the mech’s into more of a oversized Spartan looking machine. With the ability to move at a similar faster rate and have possibility of limited customizations to the way they are outfitted. Like putting weapons on the outside of the arms and freeing up the hands for the possibility of close range attacks with maybe so cool animation of the mech picking up the Spartan and crushing him. Or if attacked from behind, stepping on the spartan(forcing him pined to the ground) and then going into a limited few seconds where you take your mech weapon and fire dozens of rounds into the back of his skull. With more maneuverability you could afford to make the mech’s a little more vulnerable to subsequent attacks. If would also be cool to see them wield some sort of Mel’s weapon in one hand and a pistol or something in the other. I would also like to see the incorporation of 4 or 6 man squads with this many players.

I think it would be really neat to have two different types of Warzone: the one they showed us, and the one I suggested. Throw them both in the same playlist to keep it fresh so not every match is the same.

I still don’t think it would work though it is difficult to adjust AI as they can either be an unstoppable killing machine better than any real human player or they would just be to easy to kill as they are not better than human players in terms of intelligence it is almost impossible to balance AI. The only other thing you can do is make them okayish intelligence wise but bullet sponges and well that is just no fun.

There won’t be playable Elites because it contradicts with canon. H4’s multiplayer as with H5’s and its Warzone are training simulations dubbed “War Games” while you’re aboard the UNSC Infinity. That’s why Palmer narrates Warzone. You’re not a Sanghelli Elite aboard the Infinity sadly folks

Yep I know, personally I couldn’t care less I never liked Elites anyway. But some people do enjoy to play as something different and well for a game mode like warzone or Invasion which I know is not coming back I wouldn’t mind others playing a different species it could be fun and different. But obviously for all your normal everyday game types like slayer and objective etc IMO that should always stay as Spartans only for Ranked competitive playlists anyway.

True. I agree. Plus playing as an Elite gives your position away and can easily be killed behind cover. Learned that the hard way from H2A

Ffs, guys, not everything has to be you playing Elites, or Forerunners, or the like. It’s just not necessary. All I see is this being spewed at EVERYTHING. "Let me play another character, versus me being happy that you just put 8 freakin’ playable characters in my hand, I’m upset that I don’t get more"

I’d like to see them try it, but at the same time, it’s really not necessary, with the way I’ve seen 2-3 games go along. It just seems like it wouldn’t work very well.**Well, that’s all I’ve got guys. please let me know what you think.

Yep. Let’s make it like star wars: Battlefront

But this isn’t Star Wars battlefront. This is Halo 5: Guardians. Where multiplayer is training simulations. You’re not in training for the UNSC as a Sanghelli Elite, like c’mon people
