Warzone Mercy Rule

Would anyone else like the option to have a mercy rule for those clearly one-sided games of Warzone? The ones where the other team just stomps you outside of your base and doesn’t go for the core. The games where 2-5 people are always quit out off of you team because there is no option for this.

It could be a simple option in the start menu to toggle on or off the vote to mercy end the game.

Enduring those games is just plain awful, and I’m a diamond/onyx player. I can only imagine for how lower level players feel. Warezone would be much more enjoyable if I didn’t have to play games, since I prefer not to quit and lose my boosts/xp/rp.

Any thoughts?

I think something like a mercy rule would be a good idea. Certain parameters should be in place though so people can’t spam the forfeit option straight away.

You’re right, but say after the first 5 or so minutes, it can be pretty obvious if you have a chance to come back and push or if it’s just hopeless and why bother.

Sounds like it could be a good idea, maybe it could only be an option if the enemy team is in the lead by at least 500 points so it doesn’t get abused.

I had this scenario the other day. I joined a game in progress and the enemy had the garage and both armouries and were camping inside our base but refusing to touch our core, just spawn killing us. Near the end it was something stupid like 12v4 and 750 to 200. A mercy option would have been nice to be a killjoy and stop their little party.

I don’t like quitting either, not to lose xp and rp, and also to minimise my chances of getting banhammered.

Would be good if there was the setting that if you only had your core left and there was a “mercy” button that you could press, and for a successful forfeit 70 or 80 percent of your team had to manually press it.
I’ve had those games and it’s the furthest thing from fun.
Hell, I’ve even been on the winning side of those games and I hated it! I would just sit back at the garage and hope that my lack of farming like the others in my team might help the enemy team capture an armory.

Ya, requiring 100% on a team hit mercy is a bad idea, but something like this might work (percentages are somewhat arbitrary):

  • 80-90% mercy, with no conditions on the other team.
  • 60-80% mercy, team has “X” point lead
  • 40-60% mercy, team has “X” point lead, and all 3 points
  • Maybe require have a certain K/D ratio comparison between teams.

Point being, certain requirements should be met, and maybe some have a lower requirement for mercy votes than others.

Would definitely help with d bags farming kills for achilles and not actually trying to play the game

umm why? There are no ban rules in wz

don’t give up spartan, we can still destroy the enemy’s core!

Also, quitting should never be a solution, but a team saying, “you’re better, you win,” to the other could be.

I disagree. I have over 1700 WZ games in, always play solo, never quit. If you can carry, the loss won’t matter. Play on spartan.

so you mean a mercy rule that saves ur boosts? Sounds like too much effort only for saving some boosts…

Maybe they should give us the option to spawn were we want to instead of forcing us to spawn at the core when it’s being attacked. It would at least give the chance of taking an armory instead of taking the endless pounding from the other team.

I’ve played a few WZ games where it was basically pointless to try. I wouldn’t mind a mercy rule if they implemented one.

I think this would be a good idea but it would have to implemented like the mercy rule in Destiny, where if the enemy team is at double your points by a certain number of minutes after the game starts, mercy rule activates.

Yes, but only if it were properly implemented.

Say after the 5 or 6 minute mark and your
team hasn’t captured a base in a certain amount of time you get a “mercy” countdown.

You need to finish capturing a base within the next 15 or so seconds or your team automatically loses.

At this point, it’s probably too late for it.

You’re not Palmer. >.>
Don’t tell me something I’m not going to do! :stuck_out_tongue:

So lets say they implement this mercy rule thing. When I search warzone usually people will dashboard to avoid us because of our emblems, and this increases search times. Now with a mercy rule, we search for 5 minutes because people dashboard/quit whatever, and then when we load into the game all the enemies immediately choose to forfeit and the game ends. Meaning that our experience on this game goes from 4 minute games to not being able to play at all.

The only way to prevent the “issue” that is Achilles farming is to put a timer on the core and set it to explode after a certain time being exposed. That way teams couldn’t farm for over 5 minutes and if they refused to triple cap enemy players could just hide in the home base.

But the fact is farming is so over exaggerated and no good teams farm because we are all trying to hit max rank. I haven’t farmed in 1000+ warzone games and the only times I ever farmed was when I was in lobbies that wanted to. I just sat back and did nothing. Yet my rep still needs work and probably will go to avoid me today. Mercy rule or not people are always going to report players better than them when they aren’t doing anything wrong
