Warzone is Power Struggle

After looking at Warzone I thought that is Power Struggle! The people wondering this is a multiplayer mode in Crysis/Crysis Wars. This mode you have to destroy the enemy’s base but to do that you have to capture factories that build tanks and weapons. To buy weapons you have to get points that you get by killing enemy’s or capping. If this sounds familiar then this is Warzone done in 2007.

That explains it better than I could.

Well, it’s an old concept.

Battlefield 2142 had Titan Mode where you would fight for missile silos in order to take down the shields of the enemy’s titan and invade it.

I don’t really care about gamemodes being borrowed.

I’m not upset that they borrowed a game mode but I wish 343 would not act like it’s some amazing new thing. Also CS is closer than Titan mode.

Well, how do you think they should have presented it?

Hey guys we have a new game mode for halo. Not this is the biggest best multiplayer mode that makes firefight and Spartan ops obsolete.

I don’t believe they ever said such a thing, so that may be projection.

“And then we still get to build this massive new experience, Warzone, which caters to our big team battle crowd, people who love vehicles, people who want the huge heavy weapons, campaign players that want to fight AI, and even MOBA players and players from other genres that may be interested in this style of gameplay.”

The fact that they said “campaign players that want to fight AI” and they are not including FF or SO makes my statement pretty accurate.

Having watched the video Warzone and Power Struggle only have passing similarities. First major difference is the AI and the AI bosses. Power Struggle is about destroying the enemy base but Warzone is more about killing the AI bosses to get points. The “core” mechanic is just so that if 1 team is dominating they can end the match more quickly.

They wanted to try something different to appeal to a wider base. Their quote even makes it clear they realize its not super original. They’re just building a mode to appeal to a lot of people, and firefight has traditionally had a rather small population following.

And you know Firefight is just a rip of Gear’s Horde mode right?

I understand that they are trying something new to Halo, but I don’t like what was lost to make this “new” thing. I love firefight even if it’s a rip off of Horde which was a rip off of Killing floor. I want FF at 1080p 60FPS but that seems will never happen.
My point was they are overselling Warzone at the cost of things I care about.

As Cobra said, what you are doing is seeing things that aren’t there. No where in that statement does it say Warzone makes Spartan Ops and Firefight obsolete, and in fact Josh Holmes recently claimed that a new mode of Warzone with just AI firefight-style could possibly be added post-launch if there is a great demand for it in the community.

Your statement is completely false.

They removed FF and SO that is a fact. In their place they added Warzone that is a fact. When they developed Halo 5 343 found Warzone to be a acceptable replacement. They removed firefight then replaced it with Spartan Ops in Halo 4. This time we have Warzone that replaced Spartan Ops that makes FF and SO “obsolete”.

Crysis’ power struggle was the most asked for thing for any crysis after its implementation. As far as I know anyone who played it who was not strictly looking for a quick match loved it.

Why not bring that to halo?
