Warzone is Halo's attempt at Battlefield

I’ve played a lot of Breakout and a lot of Warzone. Both of these modes are a lot of fun and I feel like Breakout is Microsoft’s attempt at Counterstrike: GO and Warzone is Microsoft’s attempt at Battlefield.

I love traditional 4v4 Halo - especially objective play - but I can’t quit playing Warzone. They took the best elements of Battlefield with huge areas, plenty of different hot zones for fights, and being able to take on a specific responsibility and hope that your teammates play well enough to win.

The match is bigger than just your effort and that’s what makes it exciting. Craziness happening all over the place and you can end up going 20-4 and dominate an area of the map while teammates are getting steamrolled in another. It really is a Warzone.

I also applaud 343’s ability to balance the REQs so well. It’s mostly BR/AR/Magnum fights with the occassional vehicle or power weapon thrown in. I am happy to see the game doesnt turn into a massive sniper fest or team rockets. That is some amazing balancing if you ask me.

But I also think you can’t discount how impressive it is that this game mode experiences NO LAG and is basically a 12 player co-op match off the start against enemy AI.
I think this was a test for 343 in expanding the Halo multiplayer scene. I can see them making Halo 6 really amazing with 24 vs 24 player battles and even larger maps if people are enjoying Warzone as much as me. I also think if they re-add split screen into the game Warzone will get even more popular.

I believe a big factor in all of this is the removal of loadouts and armor abilities. Their is a big learning curve to get all the new skills down after playing the old Halos for so long. But I feel like it’s easy to pick the game up and enjoy it all skill levels.

If you are good you will still dominate bad teams/players, but those bad teams/players still feel like they have a chance and can compete even if they will lose 7 times out of 10. As a developer you want as many people to play your game as possible and this Halo is so welcoming that it has something for everyone to enjoy.

inb4 Battlecall of Halo 5: GO

I like Battlefield so no problem here.

As someone with a LOT of hours in Halo and Battlefield, Warzone definitely has quite a few similarities.

nice. I only played 1 MP game in Arena and loved it.

I never liked BTB in Halo, although I enjoyed Invasion (reach), so I’m hoping Warzone is better.

Warzone is legit yo.

Warzone (both modes) is the bomb!! So much fun.

It seems like warzone is a combination of Battlefields maps, Titanfalls a.i. in multiplayer and Halo’s vehicles and spartans. Pretty cool idea

The time to kill is too high in Halo to be even remotely close to Battlefield.

Well Breakout is a play on Counter Strike (been around a lot longer then CS:GO)

The difference is that in CS, all gametypes are A-symmetrical; ie Rescue Hostages or Plant a Bomb.

Halo attempting to lean more toward Battlefield is not a bad thing AT ALL. I have always played Halo BTB for the chaos and I personally LOVE BF4 for even more chaos. Plus BF has JIP, and no team killing. So Warzone is extremely exciting to me and I have been looking forward to that game mode the most. In some ways it takes a step past BF. Especially since Warzone has bots in the mp just like Titanfall. Warzone is a perfect mix between Halo BTB, BF4, and Titanfall. In a very good way. Warzone is pretty much everything I have asked 343 for all in 1 game mode.

Warzone Assault is attack & defend. I’d love to see 343 create some variants where you have to arm a bomb in the end or capture a flag or other objectives added to their attack & defend arsenal.

Loving Warzone. Yes it is indeed a mix between BF4, Titanfall, and Halo BTB, all in a good way.

It’s much more like Unreal Tournaments Onslaught mode.
