"WarZone Improvements Suggestions" Thread #3,762

I know there have been countless threads about it, but there are just so many ways that it can be improved. I’d like to give my two cents as to what 343i could do to WarZone in the future to make it more enjoyable.

  1. Add more information to the HUD in WarZone. Spartans have hyper-advanced computer interfaces in their helmets; there should be more information available on the HUD in WarZone to match that fact. Add base statuses (Who has what captured, how much progress has been made in capturing this or that base, etc.) and Enemy/Friendly Core HP when all bases have been captured to the base HUD next to the scoreboard. People shouldn’t have to take their time to turn around and look in the direction of a base/core to get a proper understanding of the battlefield.

  2. Add roaming AI enemies. MOBAs have a persistent flow of creeps/minions, so why can’t WarZone? Basic Promethean and/or Covenant troops that spawn in at regular intervals would allow for REQ level gaining without being forced to rush into the nade-spamming hellholes that are enemy bases, a decent way to acquire basic power weapons without expending REQ energy, and as a way to at least have some kind of fun even when your team is losing by 500 points. As well, it gives players some target practice if they want to hang back away from the front lines and defend their Armories.

  3. Remove Palmer’s “We can still destroy the enemy Core!” line from the game. A majority of the time it’s a disheartening lie and only serves to further irritate players that are losing by hundreds of points.

Finally, and this suggestion is a longshot, but
4. Create a WarZone map (or two) where people can find reasonable success with CQB weapons. Every single current WarZone map favors long-range precision weaponry, even inside Garages, Middle (Fortress, Relay, etc.) and Core bases. The only time close-range weaponry truly shines is in the confines of Armory bases. There needs to be at least one map where the tactics are mixed up.

Totally agree with number 4!
I sell every shotgun that I get. The maps are too open for them to be any use in my opinion.

2 and 3 I wouldn’t mind.

1 I’m not so sure about. If it comes up on the HUD that your base is being captured, everyone is just going to storm it and take it back, leading to a situation that is forever one step forward one step back.

#4 a map similar but larger than Turf from H2.

Your roaming ai suggestion gave me one.

They could add surprise ai squads that have a random chance to attack a teams base. If you have only one base your team is safe. If you have two bases theres a small chance that gets greater and greater until they arrive. If you have all three the beginning chance is much higher and gets bigger quicker. The ai should be able to re neutralise a base, but it’ll take slightly longer than if opponent players do it. The ai squads should be the best of the best, no boss points but put up a major fight so they cant just be dispatched by one guy that notices a base is under attack.

Yeah, you’re right. Ninja Captures can turn the tide of a match at times too. I still think a Core health bar would be nice, though.

number 3 and 4 I agree with. Honestly getting sniped across the map in every game is just getting sad at this point. I want to actually have close quarter engagements in subway stations or caves, not this chicken contest ordeal. Not saying it’s a bad thing I mean I love big maps but poking people with BR or DMR is just boring

DO NOT make based weapons that require you to unlock them through the means of complete luck!!! Level 51 and I have all the weapon skills for the DMR except the ones you get from pre-ordering the game. Why do I have all the collectible weapon skins for a damn weapon I don’t even have? The random rewards should not apply to base weapons! Weapon mods? Ok that makes sense. Armor mods? Yes okay I can see those being a reward. BASE weapons? NO! Level 51 nearly all common/uncommon perm REQs have been unlocked and where’s my DMR?

Make the DMR, BR and SMG unlockable at a certain level. You know these weapons are given away through chance so some players will get bad luck forcing them to go without an important weapon, and being so unlucky this might trick them into paying for packs to unlock them. That’s cheap way to sell REQ packs to players! I’m at a disadvantage in Warzone when level 6 REQs roll around cause on certain maps it becomes an all out long range battle. After playing a FPS game for months on end you should at least have the basic weapons unlocked by then. I swear I feel like my REQ system is broken!
