Hi guys it’s Reflex,
When it comes to Warzone I feel like there’s much room for improvement! The simplicity and balance of the gamemode is great however to avoid repetition, I think 343 needs to go into more depth moving forward with Halo 6. The constant bombardment of air vehicles mixed with the basic system of only having 3 objectives causes the game to become quite minuteness over a certain period of time. Taking tips from fan classics such as Invasion would be really cool to see in the world of Warzone or even looking at Battlefield and how they structure ‘vehicle usage’. For example maybe there can only be a certain number of ground/ air vehicles on the map at a time and for power weapons a system should be developed for that as well. In terms of maps, more diversity would be brilliant! Having a basic 3 lane map has never been something which has interested me in any game I’ve played and I feel 343i should push them selves to create something which is much more complex and in depth. In all honesty there are several components which could easily improve the Warzone experience, but overall the game mode is still fun and enjoyable to play.
What elements do you think 343 could change to improve Warzone?
Reflex,
Signing out.
I think they could have Structured their maps differently, they could have had objectives in the air, the surface and then below ground. This would add a lot more complexity and depth. Its too bad the xbox one limits this.
They also could have added more objectives. On apex 7, on the beach or just any big flanking route that goes unused
I’m hopeful that 343 will make WZ improvements and changes like this in H6 (fingers crossed). This was the first iteration of the game mode after all. Definitely agree with the OP about having more variety in objectives and base placement. Which they did they to address with the boss refresh (changing AI rotation + placement).
they need to bring back the Warzone Firefight. The regular one. That one is more fun for some reason.
I’ll be honest, I’ve been trying to get back into OG Warzone again after playing nothing but FF for months and months… I felt like mid-to-late last year WZ just played awful every time I tried it… and while I’ve only gotten in a handful of games, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I dunno whether to credit the fireteam limit change, or the REQ level change, but all of a sudden for me anyway it’s playing a lot more casual and laid back and feels like it did for the first few months post launch. Matches are consistently close and the map isn’t locked down by like 4-5 Wasps in the first 5 minutes. I’m cautiously jumping into games nervous that it’s gonna play awful, and when it’s done I have a grin on my face and want to do the dance from the “That didn’t suck!” commercial.
I was considering making a thread congratulating 343 on it, but then I figured I’ll just get flamed from like 100 people.
The vehicle limit sounds like a good idea. I’d like to see more variety in boss spawns in both type and location. Imagine knowing that a boss will spawn in ten seconds but you don’t know which of the five areas it will be in or if you need a Spartan laser or a ghost.
Additionally I think differing the number of armouries by map could be good. Say a map with five or six bases but fewer bosses to create loads of movement while the current three base set up has more boss spawns.

better map design, either more cover from base to base, OR spread the bases further apart
it would be cool to see a version without vehicles, once someone gets a banshee it’s GG.
instead of scoring it “who kills the most, while keeping more bases” either A just make it first too 500 kills, (team death match) B make it tradtional domination/strongholds style where you win because time held.
everything else, i like
How I think they should improve warzone.
#1 less bullet sponge bosses and just make them more aggressive and move around the entire maps and not just stay in one area.
#2. Random drops if elites and grunts only. Or even just a team of elites in drop pods. Promeantheans warping in.
#3. Maybe add some teleporters instead of just man cannons.
#4 additional objectives for points like return a flag that is being protected by Covies or destroy an enemy concoy or capture a certain area of the map for a short time KOTH style.

there is already a thread congratulating them, but i feel the same way (i actually just made a post about the "wasp lockdown yesterday)
no gamemode should make you go… wow i REALLY want to like you, but i know that as soon as i push the play button, this is going to be a waste of 25 minutes because of banshee base lockdown and base camping in general,
it’s gotten to the point that if you aren’t in your base, you will die. if you try to advance to an enemy objective, you will die. if you do anything that is not spawning in a banshee or ghost, guess what, you will die.
i want to LOVE warzone, but it’s a bit TOO crazy.

random drops would be a god send!, because as it is right now, there is NO reason to move through the middle of the map

Oh another idea I was thinking, while probably not possible but would be interesting, is have it so Covies or promeantheans can attack and capture one of your armorys… Not quite sure how it would work but would add a twist to the game.
The maps doesn’t feel random I keep getting the same ones over and over.

they just need to make it like titanfall’s “team death” mode, where roughly every 40 seconds, a couple drop pods come down, across the map with small punk maps (grunts and jackals in this case) just to give the less skilled something to shoot at,(also in this case, build their req power a little faster) again just to break up all the “base camping” on maps like raid and apex. i managed to get to req 8 and i never once moved from spire or east armory, i wouldn’t mind dying to banshee spam as much as i do, if i could should other things then camping Spartans
How about a playlist for warzone that is on BTB maps that is 4v4 and enemy AIs. No bases to capture and no core to defend just objectives to complete, get kills, return a neutral flag, one player would be a VIP for a time, or kill a certain elite, and capture a hill… Stuff like that.
Warzone is a game type that takes a good amount of patience in order to play, particular for lone wolves or even your basic three man squad. The concept is designed for different ranges of engagement and making sure you are in correct sight for the advantage over multiple approaching targets. You can’t treat Halo in general like most other FPS titles because unlike many of current or past franchises; the armor system with the movement penalty (nullified by upgraded thrusters mod) is what sets it apart from Battlefield and Call of Duty. Trust me, if that one thing was not there, which in ways it isn’t, there really wouldn’t be so much issue with Warzone I bet. Yeah the maps suck and linear game design makes for horrible repetition, but you gotta love the fresh take on decision making demanded by H5.
