Warzone Firefight's Future in Halo Universe

Firefight started back in Halo 3 ODST then followed up again in Halo Reach. Then it was wave after wave of AI enemies thrown at you as you met objectives. When Warzone Firefight was announced, the excitement in the air and on the forums was amazing. Many of us veteran gamers were excited that 343 decided to bring back firefight. That excitement was somewhat dulled after it was announced that some features were taken out.

Halo Reach and Halo 3 ODST Firefight:
is a single or cooperative mode in Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach, where up to four players can cooperate with one another via system link or Xbox Live and fight against waves of Covenant attackers.
Single Mode: Allowed gamers to play online or offline and hone their skills
Cooperative Mode: You could play split screen offline or play online with other gamers.
(Can play for Hours)

Halo 5 Guardian Warzone Firefight:
Cooperative mode only: Warzone Firefight is an 8-player co-operative experience where Spartans team up for 5 Rounds. Each round spawns a dynamic objective, and players have 5 minutes to complete each task. As players progress through these rounds of increasing difficulty they will raise their REQ level, allowing them to call in more powerful weapons and vehicles. Once players reach the final round they will need to bring all their best combat skills to bear as players face some of their most lethal threats yet.
(Can play for 25 minutes at most)

Comparing the 3 current/past firefights, anyone can clearly see the main points. Not everyone wants to play with other gamers, Some would rather play split screen with buddies in the their own house then with strangers, and all gamers want the option of going solo or building a team to take on the enemies of the UNSC.
It is in this veteran gamer’s opinion that future Halo games allow firefight all the original options but also have the new options that may come along.
As they say: MORE IS BETTER

Warzone firefight is broken in my opinion, and i want to see the return of the old firefight.

I agree that it is broken. Many of the key features we all liked in the original 2 were scraped for this fast pace firefight known as Warzone firefight. It is somewhat amusing at times but I still miss the old options. We can only hope that 343 learns to that More is better.

I somehow miss the old firefight too, despite playing Warzone Firefight. It is nice to play with others against AI, but i wish to play Firefight without multiplayer mode as well, just like in ODST or Reach with achievements. That was fun!

Totally agree with more is better. The new Warzone Firefight definitely needs to undergo some major changes but we need this in addition to the old versions - just having all three (and more new modes) is a much better idea, no one should replace the other.

I think 343 will go back to the original versions of it with single player, multiple people and customs.

I do miss the old firefights in previous halo games. Reach was my favorite firefight mode because it had different variants of the mode ( arcade, heroic, unlimited mode), and it even allowed you to play as elites against Spartans in offline mode. I do like halo 5 war zone firefight but it’s not as fun as the older one. They changed so much of what was established in the last two that doesn’t play the same. It’s even unfair at times when it comes to taking enemy damage and long respawn time for each round completed. I hope they bring back the ODST/Reach style of firefight in halo 6.

I would not leave out Halo 4 Spartan Ops, which is firefight in all but name.

The Reach version still gets top marks in my books for having the most options, including an intricately customizable “customs” version and also for being fully integrated into the matchmaking and rank progression systems. That said, the single most important feature that 343 could bring back would be the option to play ALONE.

Actually, I want to see More Warzone Firefight modes in the next halo’s Games, I think that it’s a good thing to play when you are boring

I wouldn’t mind having WZFF as an option - just like having say, Gruntpocalypse is an option. But as the main iteration it seems like a bad idea.

I would like to see the return of classic firefight, where it is team and survival based instead of REQ based.

You are correct. Don’t replace it, just add to it to make it a kick awesome game mode.

I do miss the Reach firefight but the biggest problem is how quickly it got boring. Most of the maps weren’t all that big and there was only one map that had vehicles spawn in for the player. Warzone firefight is by no means better, it is broken, but it add objectives and vehicle combat that the old firefights didn’t. I know that some people just want to do the endless wave of enemies style, but I would be very sad if they simply just made it the endless waves of enemies again.

My biggest problem with War zone Firefight is that it had the potential to be so much better. The fact that if you could use it in custom game and edit it even without forge the possibilities would be almost endless. If your were to add forge into the mix well guess what, now you can make your own campaign. Even though as it is now isn’t very good the fact that it could evolve in to something amazing in the next game make me very happy it exist.

Good points. If they would combine the best out of all the firefights in a future halo game then it would be epic. Make the bigger maps like in Warzone, add Vehicle spawns, add objectives, and add endless waves then it would be pretty awesome to say the least. If someone wants endless then they could but then theyd have vehicles and other things to do other then just kill one bad guy after another.
