Just got done playing about a dozen games. My thoughts:
REQ: I’ve noticed this is very slow levelling up on some objectives, expessially if you get bosses wave 1 and 2. Means if something mean comes along 3 you aint got any power weapons to fight with that are decent. However if you get longer enemy waves you tend to level up more and be fine.
Infinite re spawns on bosses: Got in a game, we’re all on REQ 3-4 on Apex when on the core spawn a warden pair spawns in between the rocks with like 6 knights plus crawler change. Keeps respawning knights. Killing 2 wardens with just Brs and SMGs with a few railguns is bad enough, add incin toting knights in and it’s just impossible.
Re-spawn times: I really like this idea. It spaces out respawns so when people are dying, it actually feels like a desperate last stand. Yes it sucks to wait, but lets be honest half you team being permadead by wave 3 would suck.
Knights: They spawn too early. In wave 2, when you have at most REQ 3 I’m seeing things like “Kill 50 soldiers” (no joke) and while we’re trying to do this incin knights are griefing us. I think it should be base infantry plus soliders/elites 1 per every 5 regs only wave 1, elites and soldiers fully wave 2, heavy enemies spawn infrequantly wave 3, more with bosses but not respawning, full on all spawns at wave 4/5.
Fun: This game mode is for sure, with many chances for epic stands and team work. Bit sucky solo, I suggest teaming though. However the random spawns can lead to some real impossible situtions, like aforementioned soliders, or when at wave 4 it spawned four mantis’s (with shields that started regening before my corp scorp could reload…) one of which was in a building. Like why in the garage? How did it get there?
Spawning: This mode leaves you with enemies behind and infront way to much, and can spawn enemies ontop of spartan postions. I think all enemy respawning should be limited to 100 meters from the spartans. Maybe add it so at least three spartans must be within X meters to stop all spartans spreading out and breaking the spawns, but this would mean when fighting bosses the meat shields wouldn’t just spring right back up.
Difficulty factions: Covvies are inferior to the Methies, but I honestly think this is purely because the Prometheans are spawning right in instantly, while the covvies are actually taking phantoms and taking time to arrive.
Smart objectives: We got one kill objective where it spawned all the enemies on the wrong side of the map. All of them. It tooks nearly 30 seconds before anyone got to them. Kill objectives should drop in middle and back to keep an even spread up.
Stormbreak glitch: Soliders spawning at storm breaks right side armoury (idk about left) spawn in groups of 6 on the high bit outside the armoury (the bit with two front and back blocked off so you shoot out the sides) Means they just sit and mass spam anyone that comes up. It sucks.
Damage resistance: The enemies resistance in some cases are way to high. Example: an elite grey boss took about 6/8 back slaps, just did normal shield damage. Some enemies have way to much.
Grunts with shields: Actually really interesting, makes the guys a viable threat when you have to soften them up. Fairly balanced weak shields too.
Defence: Really fun, challenging. BUT, it often spawns the enemies closer to the base then the spartans currently are. I think it would be good if they made it so the wave only starts when a spartan is in the target (bases) or close by (artefacts)
Boss killing: Some are fun, but some it’s just really grindy and annoying, like the five wardens.
Enemy exterminates: Should just be all enemies not one type, gets annoying when enemies that aren’t of that type swarm you as the ones you want just sit laughing.
Overall: Good, but is going to need work to not get annoying when you get three games in a row where bad objective set ups slaughter a team of eight mic users because they can’t do the objective in the time limit!
