So with the blurred reveal of the Warzone Firefight update, the community is buzzing about all the possibilities to what we could be getting.
We are getting Score Attack for campaign and Warzone Firefight. The latter is obviously the most anticipated, and I’m willing to bet that people won’t really care abput Score Attack unless it offers them points to commendations. Moving on.
We have three new maps coming in hot: Prospect, our fifth Warzone map that begins with a boots on the ground assault to take down an enemy boss. We have our Warzone Assault variant of Skirmish at Darkstar, so I guess that’ll be cool, now that there are new ways to defend the core. And we have a new Arena map, which I believe is a fresh one, not a remix, but I could be wrong.
This adds some new locations which make gaming less monotonous, but of course, Warzone Firefight ends that argument before it even begins. Now we get into the rough.
There’s a total of 20 new REQ cards coming in this update. A handful of them were supposed to drop with Hog Wild. What the hell? Sure, this update is the largest we’ve seen to date, but let’s be real for a moment and ask the big questions: Why are we getting a new mode to a campaign that people regard as the worst Halo campaign yet? And why play it if it’s just for score and doesn’t provide any advancement on commendations or REQ points? I’m a bit biased here, considering I’m a collector, so them REQs always look amazing to get, but realistically, there are tons of games, new and old, that people can play and progress in that take priority and attention over Halo 5: Judgement Day.
On the known list appears to be the two Brute Plasma Rifle variants that were placed in the Requisitions Collection tab in game, then pulled a few minutes later; two new sets of armor which, I admit, look pretty baller (Spartan of Cinder. Halo Souls, anyone?); the Patrol Case modification, which I’m willing to bet increases your ammo capacity, like in Halo 4; a Temple Banshee, not to be confused with the Golden Banshee of legend that kills Spartans just by doing banshee tricks; and last but certainly not least:
Emblems. 4 of them.
Oh, God, the ulcer’s acting up again.
Where’s the assassinations? Where are the stances? Where’s the option to change your VISR display to the way they look in the Campaign (That would be awesome, right)? Where are our community playlists and our option to put REQ weapons on forge maps and in custom games? These are the things we wanted, not emblems! Was that not clear? It feels like year one of Destiny:
Community: Can we get better balance in the Matchmaking PvP and make endgame stuff more rewarding?
Bungie: So what you’re saying is nerf everything?
If this is the final Update for Halo 5, then I will be hard pressed to even look at the game over my last summer with free time.
