Ok ‘perfect’ may be a strong word but with a couple minor tweaks the difficulty in Firefight is great.
Who knows… I may be in the minority on the whole difficulty but could you imagine if it was easier? Beating all 5 levels would be a normal occurrence.
The beauty of how tough it is now, is that it feels like a great accomplishment beating all 5 rounds that really does need every Spartan’s top game and top reqs.
Now I know that sometimes scenarios in rounds 1 or 2 can turn out to be extremely difficult. I’m mostly referring to the ‘Defend scenario’ in which most times it’s against Prometheans and it’s a grind to even make it out of those… sometimes the Firefight ends in round 1 or 2 in those situations if everyone isn’t doing their part… but guess what… THAT’S COOL TOO! It makes it so those early rounds aren’t some ‘walk through’ where you’re burning through 10plus minutes just to get to anything remotely challenging.
I think it’s important that in any round, a team has a chance to get through but at no guarantee. It’s what makes it fun, challenging, and especially rewarding when the odds can feel stacked against your teams yet victory comes through.
I will say that even with the difficulty now, a team that properly executes and does things right will more often then not have a chance to beat all 5 rounds.
I say do some minor tweaking but overall leave the difficulty where it’s at.

> Yes, I think it’s ok too IMO, but it’s just the respawn timer increase. 10 seconds is enough!
I hear you. The respawn time could be one of those minor tweaks I spoke of.
At the same time, though, it’s what makes those later rounds more intense because you really start to value and preserve each life because the consequence of dying is much greater. This adds to the intensity rather than just running full throttle in and not caring if you die since you know you can respawn right back.
Again, I hear exactly what you’re saying, that part could be tweaked a little but let’s not forget how it adds to the experience as well.
Reachs FF was close to perfect. 30 seconds respawn timer, spawning all the way on the other side of map, bullet sponge enemies, must need high reqs to even compete, enemies that 1 shot kill you from any place, distant, 5 minute timer that forces you to be in a rush. So many issues.
I think the difficulty of the AI is about there, but the respawn timer makes things 10x more difficult than it should be. I mean, when you are being tailed by 4 knights on round 5 or by 4 soldiers on round 1 or 2 it is difficult to take them out whether you have a 30 sec respawn timer or a 10 sec respawn timer. Some times I also feel that the power weapons do nothing to vehicles. I don’t know many vehicles that would handle 4 rockets being shot at it and hardly makes a dent in the health.
Here’s the biggest problems that need major tweaks.
Tons of sponge damage AI’s guarding bosses
Too much Respawn time (mainly on round 5)
not enough time in the round (this is because of the respawn time, so if one was tweaked the other could be fixed by effect)
It doesn’t make sense that power weapons are weak and vehicles are pretty much the way to go everytime. (At least on round 4 or 5)
If 343 fixed these, I could pretty much call it ‘perfect’

I agree the bosses aren’t smart, but the other AI are extremely intelligent. They’ll chase you when you are low on health, find you in corners, attack you in groups. I’m blown away by how intelligent theses AI are.
Its fine as long as we rename it in Halo 6 and bring back a true, adjustable, private, more casual, less reliance on microtransactions true Firefight Survival lobby.
I think the next step is adding new types of bosses. I would love to see fights against brutes and potentially a scarab. Its not just for nostalgia, its for fun. If they make a new type of scarab, I am all for that too. I’m pretty sure the storm covenant had a couple of large scale weapons at their disposal. Warden Eternal could use a new form, promethean soldiers need to ride wasps as a wave and they need a new ground assault vehicle.
We can see everyones service record and everyones win rate for wzf is atrocious lol the difficulty needs to be created in legit fashion not arbitrarily with spawn times, spawn locations (player and enemy), bullet sponges, or ridiculously overpowered enemies that ALL snipe. Snipe your “noob” -Yoink- out a scorpion? Thats not a challenge it’s bs lol
I played the campaign for halo 5 LASO and I was expecting ‘alright, I’m gonna die a lot, but that won’t matter because I already know where to go and how to survive’ but with firefight the difficulty is almost the exact same and it catches you of guard

The problem is that you can’t make them any smarter so you have either sponges or massive hordes.

whenever i hear a new person starting firefight, that’s what i tell them. Just imagine you are playing Legendary Campaign and you will be in the correct mindset
