Warzone FF: 5 minutes is not enough time for fun

Having just 5 minutes to complete each wave, with no chances to even earn bonus time, is not only unreasonably difficult, but it just doesn’t give enough time for players to…actually enjoy themselves playing the game.

5 minutes is so absurdly short that you barely have any room for error, but couple that with absurdly long respawn timers and you’ve got people just sitting on their couch, not being able to do anything. That’s not fun. I would have preferred that it went back to the old system where you had a set number of lives with periodic restocks, but I understand trolls would abuse that and ruin games, so if a time limit is the only way to make it challenging, at least make it fair? Possible options include:

  1. Add ways to add time for completing certain objectives or getting certain kills. This would make every player feel like they matter to the team. For instance, add bonus enemies that have markers on them that don’t have to be killed to complete the round, but if you manage to take them down, they add a bit of time to the clock. Don’t make them super bullet sponge enemies, but make them fast and elusive…like some kind of treasure goblin.
  2. Just increase the time limit to 7 minutes. This one is easier to do, and makes things a bit more fair. It’s a less interesting solution, but it’s an option.
  3. Add some kind of overtime or sudden death mechanic. Like, any Spartan fighting a boss target extends the timer, but if he dies or goes too far away, the match ends and it’s a loss.
  4. Bonus rounds! Remember the grunt bonus rounds from ODST? Well you could put one of those in, and the better your collective score is for that round, the more time would be added to the final round. The bonus round would only happen once, after round 4.

Having a flat 5 minute time every round is just not fun…

The thing is, if you don’t find rushing to the next objective praying you won’t die to a bullet sponge fun, chances are you won’t have fun with this.

Trust me, it wasn’t what I wanted out of a PvE thus I have little fun with it. However there are people who do find it fun out there, but as I’ve said before, just because they like it, dosn’t mean the people that don’t are wrong and should, “git gud”. (So sick of that phrase.)

We need to find a way to make wzff fun for everyone, not just one crowed.

Difficulty? Custom WZFF? Regular Horde Mode?

Classic firefight I say. Put it as an arena playlist, tone down the enemy difficulty and disable REQ’s (Except the ones that enemies drop)
No objectives. Just kill waves of various enemies.

Why Arena? That doesn’t make any sense.

Warzozone is a grind, not a funny mode. Kappa

Arena?!

  • 5:00 minute remaining.
  • Defend the core
  • Rushing to protect the core
  • Arriving there nearly a minute later because you spawned at the opposite side of the map
  • Core at 50% already
  • 4:00 minute remaining

And again

  • 1:00 minute remaining and you die
  • Waiting 30 seconds to respawn
  • Going downstars for a cup of coffee
  • Getting back to xbox still 10 seconds left
  • 30 seconds left and you respawned at opposite side of map
  • Rushing to kill the final boss
  • Just as you’re about to arrive at the boss
  • Game ends

The first and last minute of FF.

I think maybe if there was an arena firefight for teams of four. I would love to see action sack too.

They should give the player more time, bosses can be real bullet sponges and do need a lot of time to take down. Three Wardens for example.

Five minutes is pretty ample time really, and seems just about right in every match I have been a part of. Even without mics or a sense of coordination, I’ve hardly ever NOT made it to at least round 4. So I can see how you might say it’s frantic or rushed during a five minute round, but it’s nowhere near ‘unreasonably difficult’, ‘absurdly short’ or ‘just not fun’.
