This stuffs probably been covered already but I feel like complaining. Warzone has some good ideas but its execution is just not good. Req card purchases are questionable but I can overlook it if the game type was fun. Warzone is just not fun. Firstly spawning off your fireteam should be a no brainer, but its not in the game. So many times I or my teammates waste warthogs because we will be trying to communicate where each other is on the map. This game type encourages teamwork but doesnt give you the tools needed to really succeed at it.
Boss kills are also rife with -Yoink-. There is a sweetness to stealing the other teams kill. When theyve put in the work and weakened the boss and you get the last shot in and thats all that matters. but when the bosses are make or break for success the points should be divided better when this happens. Or lower the amount of VP you get for bosses and have a greater influx of them. More bosses would make for more excitement. This would also clear up the congestion over battling for base points and add some urgency to the decisions that you are making.
If anyone at 343 can explain why there is a level 2 I would love to hear it. You dont even need to kill anything in the base lockdown to get to level 2. This is a cosmetic complaint but it still makes me scratch my head.
Ultimately as I said this game types not fun. When you play BTB and theres vehicles involved Halo is hard to beat for the most fun MP experience. Why not adopt some of those things into warzone? If blue team has west armory put a blue flag in there for red team to have to take back to their home base. Add a layer of crazy king in with boss kills where if you want the points for the boss kill you have to be inside the control zone. BTB has no objectives like warzone yet its more chaotic and fun. Add some of that flavor into this game type cause at the moment all it is is a slugfest of controlling bases and waiting for boss spawns.
I understand that this is their new game type that they are all proud of at 343 and they want to push it. Like it or not its also a constant source of a revenue stream for them with req cards. But seriously when more game types come out warzone is going to be left out and abandoned by most players.
To end on a positive note I will say 343 crushed it with their execution of swat. Swat is where its at on halo 5.
I agree. The final boss should not be 150 VP. Way too much.
I don’t like warzone at all. There is a feeling of pointlessness in the AI enemies. its like they don’t even affect the game, and then only their score matters. then there’s the problem of everyone focusing on the bases and killing other players rather than the AIs which are almost non-existent. I would like much more AI enemies, much more frequent and smaller teams. maybe even just a competitive firefight.
Also I would love to be able to use the modified weapons and vehicles in arena. Warzone is just not worth playing (for me). I simply don’t like it. I feel its a mess. just chaos everywhere. It’s just sad not to be able to use all that. I just won’t play warzone again or not often. very rarely. There should totally be an Arena gametype where you can use those REQs.
Finally, the snow map has a very annoying boss that is not even the final one and is worth like 200 points or so. its the one that spawns at the base in the middle, a Promethean knight. So I hate this map most of all. The one I kinda like, but still don’t like warzone very much is the jungle one. (damn, I don’t even remember the names of the maps…)
Warzone Assault…I only played two games of it, one as the attackers and one as the defense. My question?
Why the hell do the defenders spawn OUTSIDE of the place they have to defend? The whole game I spent running towards the place I was supposed to be defending, only to get gunned down on the way there by waves of attackers charging the location along with me…how can I defend something I spawn outside of, from 1000 feet away?
Maybe it was just that one game, weird spawns? I don’t know…Warzone’s cool but it seems there’s almost no way to get the higher REQs unless your team is organized to a fault and takes total command of the game. And why are the variants for the BR and DMR Level 8 REQs? Can a team even reach Level 8 without being 3/4 of the way to victory? How would you have time to use the thing? “Hey cool, a Longshot BR with Kinetic Bolts or whatever, I finally get to try this aaaand we won.” They should find a way to get all these wacky weapon variant REQs into Custom games or something so we can at least get to shoot the damn things once or twice. I wanna actually get to fire a “River of Light” and see what cool thing it does.
I’m just sticking with Arena for now. And getting psyched for BTB!

Truth. Halo 5 SWAT is fantastic. SWATNUMS is a blast too!
I find it odd that you didn’t mention team balancing.
I hope that they bring out more game modes other than the 2 currently in the warzone playlist.

Considering that one Defender can contest the base with twelve Attackers and just hide until the game finishes It’d be unfair for the Attackers. And considering a team of Defenders can easily lock the base down it’s even more of a hell for Attackers. Sure they can easily defend the base until capture, but just think. If Defenders kept spawning inside the base and not a respectable distance away it’d be impossible to cap the base.
As for the REQ. It’s got a slown/higher requirement exp to level up. How unfair would it be if the Defenders (who have a advantage at the beginning unless their team is very incompetent) could spawn in 20 Banshees, 10 ONI Scorp Tanks and 60 Gauss/Rocket Hogs while the Attackers have feeble Ghosts and Gungooses?
That’s my personal thought on the matter. The amount of times we’ve already lost as attackers because the enemy kept a firm hold on their base… and besides, attackers have to run the same distance to the base as well.
Wow, I really wanted to love Warzone but I only just like it. A majority of the meh-ness comes from getting Stormbreak 90% of the time. On that map, it feels like whichever team gets the center base usually rolls to victory. I like the map, but that center base is just too easy to defend.
I also think more AI bosses might give this mode more balance or at least more fun. Either stay in the base to keep it from getting captured or head out to attack the AI. And it gives the losing team another way to come back. Maybe not big 100 or 150 point bosses but more 25 and 50 point bosses throughout the match. I might play it more if there was more variety.
agree. The final boss should not be 150 VP. Way too much.
I prefer warzone assault, but enjoy regular warzone as well. My only major gripe is the lack of maps. If you work with a team and communicate, you will do fine. I enjoy there being so many ways to win. The final boss at 150 VP is perfect to keep the action moving. Otherwise, the team leading could just camp and wait it out until the end. AI spawns could be better, but overall the setup is fine by me. I just wish the random teammates Ingot understood tactics better.
