Warzone Charity Weekend 3.0 6/7 May 2017

Alright Ladies, Gentleman, Spartans, and Sanghelli… I (and many others on this forum) am in the envious position of having everything unlocked and once everything is unlocked most requisitions become bountiful and almost never ending in supply. There are new players out there and other players who simply don’t have the bounty I (we) have access to. I’ve noticed a lot of lower SR players (often under 20) in my warzone matches of late. Sometimes these people end up quitting the match/thus making it harder on the rest of us. This shouldn’t be their only experience in warzone. A little encouragement might help them find their way a bit easier.

So my proposal (and one I intend to complete even if only I’m doing it) is that on 6th and 7th of May if you see one of these new players on your team; we take a specific course of action. Get their attention…call them over to a req station and spawn something for them. It could be an open hand, a blaze of glory, or a mantis the choice is yours (and mine.) Let’s make Halo 5 a bit more inviting to the people just starting out even if it’s just for one day. A message or a microphone would probably benefit the task.

How do I recognize these players?
Well, if you see one in a post match screen and then in your next game that’s a pretty easy one. If they are still using an AR/Pistol and you’re on level five or six reqs. That might be a clue too. Sometimes people seem to have no idea what they should be doing…which may be another clue. If you don’t mind a two screen experience you can also check SR on here during a respawn.

The date?
Covermymeds indicated some people may have difficulty reading 6 and 7 May 2017, so I’ll restate it as May 6th and 7th 2017 for those of you not familiar with that form of date notation.

How do I give away a req?
There are a few ways you could. Grab a mic and have them meet you at a req station. Spawn a mantis and hop out in front of them. Even just gunning/driving a warthog might make the experience a bit better for those newer players.

Which reqs should I give away?
That is up to you. If you want to spawn some suppressors or offer DMRs by picking up a weapon off the ground? That’s cool. If you want to give away a sniper or rockets. That’s cool too.

Will some people take advantage?
Inevitably yes. There are alway a few people, but they should remain the minority.

Which warzone?
Well, any of them really. Regular warzone, Firefight, assault, any would work.

And if I don’t want to participate?
Then don’t. This is just something I’m going to be doing. I’d like some of you to join me, but the choice is yours.

You’ve done this before right?
Yep, details on the previous two warzone charity events can be found here.

Is there some reward for all this?
Nope. It’s just about making the community more inviting to the new people. If you consider this a worthwhile task feel free to join in.

I’m definitely in. I’ve got 61 Spnkr Primes that are never going to get used otherwise. Glad to see someone wanting to leave a positive impression on less fortunate new players. See you on the 6th.

This is great idea man. I won’t be able to participate but good luck to you and everyone who is!

May 6th? That’s a week before my birthday! And no, I don’t need a Gold Pack as a gift. Leave that for someone else who still needs to unlock items.

Digression aside, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for anyone in need until then.

I’m up for this. I have a good amount of Mythics I can give to some Randy

This is probably the most generous thing in Halo that I’ve heard about.

It would be funny if you gave a weapon to the enemy instead and they did the same for you.

The last time, many were confused, but grateful for the generosity. The questions I got were “why?”. The answers I gave was to make it more fun for new players. This is a great thing, and I will participate again for sure!!

this is an awesome idea. I’m still in the uncommon/rare req grind but I have 23 snipers I can give away.

That’s awesome. The more the merrier.

That might be a good idea, to capture the reactions. I’ll have to think on that awhile.

I would but the problem is the fact that them dying really quickly without getting any kills is quite high.

Aw let’s go! I’m in!

Got everything in-game so why not? Just tryna be a help to the community

Do you really think REQs will bring players in and or keep them in matches? The utterly terrible matchmaking combined with 6 member battle hardened Elite player teams have ruined Warzone. Nothing has been done. Nothing will be done. Giving away a few REQs that will only get wasted is going to do nothing. How many games out of 10 are blowouts now, like 7 or 8 maybe. I know the last day I played 2/3 of the matches were horrible blowouts teams winning by 600 or more points or worse. That was my last day of playing. Battlefield 1 has by far a SUPERIOR big team experience. Warzone is a complete joke. The only way I would ever pay again would be if they had solo player Warzone only AND balanced matchmaking which won’t happen in H5. The Big teams won. They own Warzone. Congrats to them. Warzone is lost cause. After spending hrs playing Battlefield and Overwatch, I’ve come to the realization that Halo will be reduced to a niche game when H6 is released. It will sell copies but unless major changes are made Halo will never come close to being the leader it once was.

Will it guarantee they’ll stick with halo? No, but with warzone being inherently linked to the req system it makes entering later in the life span of the game with at most a battle rifle a pretty daunting affair. Having someone give a player a taste of what is to come if the keep at the req system and offering thse players a more fighting chance will improve their experience.

It isn’t intended to “bring players in.” It will make things a bit more inviting to newer players who’ve picked up the game (possibly due to recent price drops.) If it encourages them to stick with the game a bit longer; that’s great. If not I’ll have done something to help out a fellow player, giving back to the community is a nice thing to do.

I think you’re severely overestimating that. Aside From Sanctum (which is awful map design) and a couple recent matchs out of my last fifty or so, I didn’t find any to be particularly frustrating. The 6 man limit for the most part fixed that issue for me (though I’ve run into a couple…) There is a thread for discussing that over in matchmaking.

I’m sorry you feel that way; participation isn’t mandatory. This is something I can do to make the community a bit better.

I disagree and since you provided no evidence, I’ll dismiss your arguement handily. Oh and this isn’t about warzone. Warzone is just where this happens to be taking place.

Ah, your personal experience and preference allow you to predict the future without any shread of supporting evidence or path to getting there. That’s a nifty talent.

Let’s keep this on topic in the future.

You want evidence, go look at my Warzone history. Out the last 20 matches for me HALF of the Warzone matches are blowouts. You can be blind and act like Warzone is just fine. Thats your prerogative. But If you think a few reqs will even come close to getting people to play, you are going to be disappointed. I love halo. I don’t just come on here to rant. I’ve stated my direct experience with Warzone, believe what you will, but there are lots of others that feel the exact same way as me. I see it every time a halo article pops up on other game sites.

So you didn’t even read my post and are claiming one person’s ‘personal experience’ should be touted as fact? When you make a claim you have to support it. Claiming a ‘personal experience’ or one random bit of data to back up massive claims that don’t follow from that is just a bit sad.

Once again I’ll remind you this isn’t a warzone feedback thread. Feel free to contribute on that in one of the active threads on the subject.

This isn’t about warzone. This is about the community. Warzone is just where it is taking place. I’m sorry you don’t understand that.

While I don’t really have any spare mythic’s lying around. Mainly due to me never getting them and holding on to the very few I have with all my might. I do have some Ultra’s and rare’s, I don’t mind throwing out to help new people.

Maybe you’re just bad…

I have a few scorpions/mantises that I can (hopefully) donate to someone in heroic WZFF.

(Heroic because that’s where I think most of the new players play for XP)

Spread the love everyone!

I’ve got a few Answers I wouldn’t mind sharing.
