Warzone Boss Kills Unfair

Killing the bosses in firefight i crucial for high req levels.
It’s just every time I do about or over 60% of damage, I die and the teammates get the kill even though they did nothing compared to what I did.
It is also highly unfair to do any major damage to a boss and not get points for it.

All teammates have to do is shoot like 7 bullets into the boss and they get ALL those points.
All I do is shoot magazine after magazine and heavy round after heavy round to earn nothing after dying right before a bosses death.

Anyone else hate this problem?

Don’t die. Learn to stay alive, and get the points.

You just say that because you are most likely to be one of the people to shoot like 6 bullets

Is it really an issue if it’s in firefight? You’ll still get req level off assists as well. I also know most players won’t sit and wait out a bosses health in FF, they’ll actually help you out on getting it killed before the timer runs out. If I don’t get the kill I don’t really make a big deal out of it. You need to ignore that aspect of the mode and just kill things while staying alive, not worry about who gets what kill.

I got 2 warden kills on apex with my arclight the otherday, just play it smart, wait till everyone does all the damage then focus fire till the enemy is nearly dead.

See here is a perfect example of how I STAY ALIVE, but still don’t get the points I need. My entire team focuses heavy weapons on a boss. I peak my head over a rock and I am some how a threat. This game doesn’t MAKE ANY SENSE.

I have the same problem FastMrFreeman and it’s very frustating…!

I know. It makes for very unentertaining gameplay.

You know what’s frustating too ?

Kill the last boss at the last second of the round and lost the game !

343, do something for it !

I’ve had this happen to me many times and even started a thread about this topic. But I have been wondering about something lately. At the Carnage Report screen after the match, if you scroll right, there is a column labeled Damage Dealt. So my thought is, we help bring a bosses health down, don’t get the points nor the badge when they die, but we must be getting points that is added to this column. What I don’t know is how does it apply to our final position in the report. I am guessing that, at least, these points must influence the final XP and RP that we get in the end. Yesterday, in a MWZFF match I got 10069 XP (I did use a Jackpot XP Boost) for just completing Round 1 and barely finishing the 2nd round. This column must have had something to do with it. So the thing is, in the end, we just might be getting some type of compensation for our efforts.

If you approach a boss on foot, you should expect to die. All the bosses in Warzone, outside of maybe Heroic, will kill you in a flash if they so much as glance at you. Similarly, if you ride right up in their faces with a vehicle, expect to die. The way to do well in Firefight is to try to find a position in which you can cheese them. From as far away as you can, hit them with your unlimited-ammo vehicle shots. Unlike in traditional Halo, there’s almost never gonna be a way for you to finish a boss faster than they can finish you through skill alone. Exceptions being bosses that can be splattered and the phaeton bosses, which go down crazy fast to hydras and spartan lasers.

Just wanted to drop this along.

You just have to be smart and play correctly.

i really dont see how this affects you in WZFF seeing how points and gamescore is just a point of prestige in this mode.

as some have said, try to be more aware of your surroundings/cover and just not die/time your deaths properly. you still get the boss kill/medal if the boss is killed within a certain timeframe of your death (assuming that you do a decent amount of damage to the boss jsut before your death)

cant really complain in regular WZ seeing how boss kill stealing plays a major role in earning big points for a underdog team.

really it just all comes down to survival, its not really unfair. your team mates just let you do all the work haha

i found this annoying in regular WZ, not FF. Not everyone has a wraith or a scorpion to take the boss down, last bullet always gets the kill, even in arena the last bullet get the kill, even if you took the shield down. fair - unfair let the a gods decide

The problem here is that not everyone can follow that advice. Someone has to do the initial bulk of damage and because they aren’t rewarded the kill, they feel like suckers.

I advocate for rewards/credit based on how much damage an individual has dealt, rather than rewarding dealing damage at the last possible second regardless of actual contribution.

Is there a reason to oppose this approach?

In the end you still get points, maybe not score points, but req level points which are more important. Who cares if you do most of the damage to the enemy boss and your team kills it off? It’s Fire Fight, it’s a team effort, not competitive CTF or Slayer.

There’s not “get good” or “don’t die” here. It’s not about skill, it’s about how you play the game; and FF is a team effort. It’s not unfair if you’re team kills the boss after all your hard work, that’s the point of the game. If you’re more obsessed with your point score rather than winning the game, then maybe you should got play a game where leaderboard placement is more important like WZ or ranked.

If you can’t play a team based mode right, don’t play it.

I’m going to bring something up here too: A few weeks ago, I was playing Warzone on Skirmish at Darkstar, and the Warden was there. He had been pushed to the back corner, so no enemies could possibly get past my team’s two wasps, multiple tanks, and many other requisitions. We would have lost the game if we didn’t get the kill, and it looked pretty good. Near the end, I assassinated him. My team still kept firing at him with previously stated weapons. And then, the enemy team (which was nowhere to be found) got the takedown, giving them the victory. WTF??
