I love Warzone and what 343 is trying to do. Combining all the elements of Halo into one big competitive multiplayer mode is really exciting and ambitious. It’s also a really big mess to balance and there’s a lot that can go wrong. For the most part, Warzone is fun and it functions properly. But there are some improvements that need to be made to make this mode less frustrating for everyone.
The big thing I want to go over today is Boss Kills. As we all know, to score the points from a Boss you have to land the killing blow. Pretty straightforward, pretty simple. Just get the last shot and it’s all yours. There’s many things you can do to improve your odds of getting the killing blow. You can use better weapons or vehicles and you can use teamwork. The sad thing is, even with the use of all these things, you still aren’t guaranteed the kill. Even if you outplayed the other team or had better weapons or stronger vehicles, there’s still a chance that the other team can claim a Boss kill that they didn’t really earn because all that matters is who gets the last shot. There should be no way for a team, that has completely damaged the Boss from 100% all the way down to the last few shots, get their points stolen by a guy with a pistol who just showed up at the very last second and luckily landed the last shot. Complete luck. What about all that damage that was done? All that work means nothing.
The team that did all the damage might as well have been shooting all of their high level REQs into a wall. When a Boss dies, the game could distribute points based off of the damage that was done by both teams instead. Maybe give a small point bonus to whichever team landed the killing blow. Just don’t let ALL the boss points hinge on whoever got the very last shot. Who cares who got the last shot anyway? Seriously, who cares? When it’s just a continuous hail of gunfire from both teams on one target, the winner should be determined by who was hitting the hardest.
Yeah the boss killing in this game is weak. They claim it’s to promote team work so that you work together to take down the boss, but all the effort is wasted if all it takes is one lucky shot from some random guy to steal it. So much for team work.

This^, and that “control the area so the enemy won’t get the last shot” is bull. The flying bosses can be hit from almost anywhere. The ground bosses often spawn in areas with minimal cover from people a map and a half away. And this isn’t even considering people with camo or snipers.
Nope… love the boss kill stealing… yes it’s infuriating when it happens to you but super sweet when you pull one off… Also what I like about it is it can keep some games from being run away games.

> Boss awards are random. Last shot, second to last shot, make sure you are inflicting heavy damage at the end. I am fine with it as is.
I do make sure but every now and then a BR will beat a SAW.
The solution I propose (By the way, I’m not sure if OP had this idea in their mind), is that as long as a team has continuous fire on a boss, and if they have done more than 50% of the damage on the boss, they should get the kill.
I feel that this is good because the only way for the other team to actually hijack a team’s kill is by killing or distracting all of them, and a team can’t just run away if they do get the boss below 51% health as proposed by other solutions.
Honestly, it’s not that bad. Having over 1000 boss kills and around 200 legendaries, shot placements and timing is key. Sure it needs some work but some of y’all are salty.
Once one team damages it below a certain threshold, let’s say 3% hp, it should be theirs once it dies. This will make it so the enemy can’t just get in there with a lucky pistol shot.
Please don’t change it 343. ZoomGears99, I usually love your threads but this one I wholeheartedly disagree with. If I play 15 games I typically don’t see more than 2 bosses “stolen” total. Considering more than 10 spawn a game, that’s not a lot at all. Record how many times bosses get stolen from your team and compare it to how many times you get credit for the kill. It’s not nearly as bad a problem as people think it is.
Its Not really about stealing. The hit detection is bullsh*!
So I can kind of proof this.
The enemy team has a tank, I got an AR and a teammate has got a railgun.
Me and my mate shoot at the very damaged tank.
So the game shows MY name with a railgun, killing the tank.
HOW is that possible? Same I guess goes for npc/boss kills.
I once was given the boss kill although beeing dead 8 seconds
