I know it isnt impossible to win while attacking ive done it before a couple of times but does anyone notice how hard it is to advance ive won while defending more than i have lost. are there any strategies that could help win more while attacking casue i love the game mode it is just very challenging. (which is nice but dang it is like banging your head against an unrelenting wall for six minutes when attacking most of the time)
very unbalanced game mode
+1 you need an awesome team to win and usually you end up steam rolling the other team when you do win. Either way it’s a ton of Req points!
You need a team of coordinated people to consistently win on the attack side.
7-8 people attacking the base 4-5 people spawn killing the defenders = win.
your team needs to be co-ordinted and/or rush at all the same time. The basic idea is, you have to kill all of the ai marines in the base to stop the in base spawn of the other team, you then have to keep them from stepping foot back in for about 2 minutes (of the 5 minute round timer) in order for a full capture. The second base topples pretty easy because of size and distance to defender spawns. the core can be a tough nut but your team just needs to hold the inside of the core against defenders while 1 or 2 fire at it to do the damage
Ya, the balancing is awful lol.
Coordination with your team. Preferably a two prong assault on the objective.
For instance, on Apex 7 (Spire then Armory), the key is to launch both an attack via rock ridges and through the stair way at staggered (but close) times. The stair way is naturally a grenade heavy choke point but if defenders can be lured out to the upper platform to attack the rock ridge, then a small group can flank.
Meanwhile, on March on Stormbreak (Snowy Planet), the key is proper flanking as most defenders assume you’re coming up from the primary entrance (shortest path), but if you flank left, most times they don’t notice. Never flank right as the Defender spawns are on that side. Alternatively, through the caves, you could loop around and “camp” Defender spawns to slow reinforcements to the objective.
Lastly, on Escape from A.R.C. (Garage then Armory), the garage surprisingly has multiple entrances. Most people try to assault from the ground level or the 2nd floor entrance (via blocks through window), but there’s a roof top entrance that you can drop from. Getting up to the roof is a bit difficult as you have to use some jump moves.
Usually, if you can get at least the first objective then rush the second one before defenders can get in place, the assault from the attackers is a lot easier. If you get to the core section, REQ should be high enough to spawn in heavy vehicles to help push through. Note that the attackers have to support those heavy hitters to prevent them from being hijack/destroyed.
i have played it 3 or 4 times… i was the attacker one time… got just manhandled… i don’t think the team knew what to do.
the rest of the times, my team was defending… we got obliterated. i mean it was bad… i love the gametype though… just need to find people that know how to play.
It’s Halo’s walker assault.
I like it but as other people have said, it is horribly unbalanced. I’m a very average player, nothing special and was able to spawn trap a team for a good few minutes.
I’ve played like 30 games so far. I can’t say for sure which one is easier. I’ve lost equally on both sides. So frustrating though to be so close to capturing and just have one guy get into the base for 10 seconds and next thing you know 8 other guys end up making it in and now you’re back to square one.
I like it. It’s for sure more enjoyable than normal Warzone. I prefer being on the attacking team though.
I don’t feel it’s unbalanced…
One enemy, Marine A.I. or Spartan can contest the entire base against 12 enemy players - how is this in anyway balanced?
Yeah, I get once you take the base you’ve gotta lockdown and hold out against the onslaught of angry Reds who wants their base back (why do Reds always defend?), but on one map, Stormbreak with the Fortress… I’ve never seen a more unfair map. It’s quite linear for a start: Attackers are basically funnelled down one or two routes. Three, the far side on the left of the Attacker’s assault if they’re clever but with the size of the capture zone I’ve seen an enemy player or two camp at the far end, keeping the base contested while their buddies rush in. It’s very frustrating. Of course once you capture the Fortress it’s much easier… but that initial base is just really annoying.
Then the disadvantage for the Defenders is they’ve only got one spawnpoint near enough. Attackers can just camp and begin sniping with their Magnums or Battle Rifles. Also frustrating.
A little balancing would be nice… especially for Stormbreak, otherwise it’s fine I s’pose.
I have never won as the defender.
I have never lost as the attacker.
I have never been in a game where the defenders won.
I have never been in a game where the attackers lost.
No i dont think its balanced at all.
