Warzone Assault "Spawn Tinkering?"

Hello,
Yesterday I played a game of Warzone Assault on Urban with some friends.
We took first base rather quickly, but the second armory/garage/whatever was taking much longer, and we hadn’t had much progress at 4 minutes, mostly because people were spamming BR’s on the roof. Then they spawned a few gungeese and pushed us back to our farthest spawn, where they proceeded to get in the back seat of the gungoose and spam grenades into our spawn corridor thing (behind the tree with the Req station by it).
After getting immediately killed for a few lives, we just stopped spawning. It would say “RESPAWN IN 0” and never spawn us. Occasionally we would get spawned in and immediately killed by the onslaught of frags and BR’s. It was a pathetic sort of humorous, and we could see the two gungeese with one guy in the back throwing grenade after grenade into our would-be spawn.
After the game, my friend messaged one of the guys in the gungeese something like “-Yoink- move bro,” and he responded something like “sorry just a little bit of tinkering with the attacker spawns.”
Wat?
Why is this possible?

I would’ve quit. That sucks bro

Report them all, it’s blatant cheating . And leave if your dead instantly , rip k/d

Yeah, it’s a pretty huge issue with Warzone Assault right now, especially on Urban. They aren’t modifying the game in any way, they’re just abusing how the spawn system works and blocking the other potential spawn points, forcing you into that one area where they spam grenades. Next time it happens, just quit. There are no quit bans for Warzone in Halo 5, so you won’t run into any issues.

If you have any clips of it happening, try and send them to @Brav and @Unyshek on Twitter. I’m sure they’ll be interested in people abusing this and how exactly it happens.

You could also report those players for “Unsporting behavior” via the Xbox Live report system.

Yes, we reported every one of them for unsporting behavior.
I don’t think I have a clip but my friend might.

how is it unsporting behavior being the defenders?

everyone starts off with the same vantage point, its not their fault they are more organized and the attackers cant put pressure on the armory. you really almost put your self in the position.

It’s unsporting. There’s a difference between defending and blatant spawn farming. One provides challenge, the other is just to give your little -Yoink- a tingle.

Best bet is to report them to 343’s people, they should do something about them

U do get banned for excessive quitting in warzone

No they don’t, I’ve literally come into games like that where it was impossible to avoid because there was no cover protection, yet the player above the garage only needs to catch people off guard for spawn killing. Organization isn’t much when it only takes 1-2 people on the garage to ruin it for everyone else. As for the armoury after that’s sort of ok but the garages are the start are the worst places to attack/defend in Warzone Assault. It’s got a point where I just tried to flank the enemy if I ever got out of spawn traps to try help team-mates that are being spawn killed…which means no helping the team capture objectives…and yet I feel like I’m being punished for trying to help the team just because the enemy is cheating. I doubt the spawn killing would have been this bad if 343i hadn’t put in climbing in the game or at the very least blocked off access to the top of the garages to spawn camp, I’ve even seen people do it to vehicles which can be impossible to avoid.

im still not understanding, which if you pay attention i dont play a lot of warzone, but if you all start on equal grounds and the defending team does better pushing you back, so far that you are spawn trapped how is that unsporting? its competition, why should they give you an inch if they are just that much better then you?

It’s not competition, I don’t understand how you can call it sporting, it’s like someone in Griffball having uneven teams then having people spawn kill from behind the spawns with no way to avoid. It’s not skill but just exploiting a game for kills, nothing more…just like you wouldn’t start a game like Tennis until the other person is ready.

its not skill? how is it not skill? clearly the only ppl on here i see complain 95% of the time are the ones playing solo, or they arent as skilled as the team beating them… it takes skill to kill the defenders to push THEM back so you can cap their armory. if they are pushing the attackers back that is purely skill not luck.

edit: if nots not competition why are their winners and losers? whether its social or not there are pppl that do not want to lose.

No quit bans in warzone? ??

Then stay in your base and defend. If you’re skilled enough to spawn trap, you’re skilled enough to beat the other team without spawn trapping.

This is like kicking a basketball player in the shin when the ref isn’t looking during a game. You may not get called for a foul and you may not get punished for it but it’s -Yoink!- unsporting.

I recently learned that while you do get a quit ban for quitting Warzone games, it only applies to Arena for some reason.

No idea how long its been like that for or if it’s intentional.

Well to be fair, warzone is casual, and it has JIP aswell.

LMAO!!! second funniest thing i have read today. no that is not the same exact thing. in sports ppl take dirty shots all the time whether they are winning or losing.
like seriously have 90% of this community not played competitive sports ever in their live?!

in halo giving the other team an inch you give yourself up to possibly lose the base…why risk having to play another 6 minutes when you just wanna pick up the win and move on.

do not get this confused with statting either. if the defending team spawn traps you only for the first 6 mins to get the win thats fine. what i would say you could actually consider bad sportsmanship is when they let you cap the base with a min left and fall back just to do the same thing again…

hell even in sports when teams take a huge lead and dont put their back ups in to take it easy they suffer no repercussions. yea other teams lose respect for them but past that nothing happens.

So is BTB and Social Fiesta, and you can still JIP in those but get quit banned.

Since the Warzone and Warzone Assault playlist descriptions says matchmaking bans are in effect, it seems like a mistake to me.

It’s not equal ground, though. The attackers don’t have the luxury of standing over the defender’s spawn points and killing them as soon as they appear on screen. They have to capture the bases in order to win. The defenders don’t have the same requirement to be in the base in order to win, so they have the choice to spawn kill their way to victory.

It’s a flaw in the design of Warzone Assault, but choosing to exploit that rather than matching skill against skill is unsporting.
