I just want to express my concerns about the skill matching system that is present in war zone and and also arena at times it feels like it’s not accurate on matching teams of equally skilled players at all I find myself on the end of one sided games very often because the other team will just steamroll over my team and I’m the only one that would have a chance usually cuz I would be equally skilled matched with the other team.
Ps. The poll is just asking should they look into the skill matching system and try to refine it for the better it’s not asking to change the skill matching system completely.
It matches based off rank, and is actually almost impeccable at doing that. The problem is with how the ranks are assigned in the first place. There are players like myself who get put in Platinum but should really be Diamond, and others who are put in Onyx and should only be Diamond or even Platinum.
I definitely think there needs to be some refining on the skill matching system( on both arena and warzone) I know for the ranked playlist might be based off rank but I know the warzone one haves to have a system in place behind the scenes but it needs more refining I know 343 have stated that the REQ’s you have is considered in the matching system.
look into it? how about they actually make one for warzone and fix the arena one. 343 acts like the only appropriate time to play halo is when you have friends to play with. no more matching groups with groups and singles against singles. ive never seen so many dominate matches in a halo game as this. Even in cod the matches don’t end so bad so often
I think the main issue is you can’t drop down a rank tier. So if I have some really talented friends carry in placement and I get onyx, then when I play solo I am counting as onyx for the team assignment, but i am really playing at a gold level. It happens, but I would say by and large it is pretty accurate. The main issue I have when getting steam rolled is my team not communicating. It is a team game, try using your mic every game and see if that helps. Even if no one else does you can still out and people will take notice.

I’m almost certain that it’s exactly the other way around. The rating system is most likely based on a well established model, and the matchmaking is just prioritizing fast search times over skill because doing skill based matchmaking properly can take an ungodly amount of time. Mind you, this is all just speculation on both of our parts, because I’m sure you know as little about the details of the system as I do.
I have to say, I can never quite get over the arrogance of the statement “the system is bad because it’s giving me a lower rank than what I think I deserve”. You have much more reason to doubt your own skill than a system you know nothing about.
After playing a bunch of games today almost 90% of the games I played in both arena and in warzone where one sided I hope my memory serves me right but in the days of Halo 3 I remember a lot more games being more even but in Halo Reach its like it stopped working on equally matching players by skill maybe the rank reset next week will will help things out but we will have to wait and see.

With so many teams in Warzone, I don’t expect much filtering between skill. As long as teams aren’t hosting with a level 1 bronze to roll nubcakes, I’m cool.

Well all I can say if there is no behind the scenes skill matching system thin a system needs to be implemented to help teams become more balance so matches don’t become so one-sided no matter if its warzone or arena.
Most games I play are fairly close. One sided matches do happen but only once in a while. I’m sure matchmaking could be improved a bit but I’m not bothered by how it is now. I am not one of those people who loses a match and suddenly thinks there is something wrong with matchmaking.
