It needs changed. Spending either 5 minutes whittling away at a boss or spawning a power weapon and nearly killing it, only to have 1 guy shoot it with a BR a few times and basically win the rest of the game is a joke. You should get points for shooting at it along with the bonus for actually killing it.
Or your team can set up a perimeter like some players do. I was just in a match today where the enemy circled the boss in 3 ghost, killing any of my team from getting a shot at him. We got nowhere close to even snipe the guy.

Well if it’s a Banshee or something there is nothing stopping someone from just shooting at it safely out of range of your team and stealing it.
