The Warthog turret position did not offer much protection in any Halo game, but it seems that it’s especially vulnerable in Halo 5.
It is much too easy to shoot the gunner out.
I suggest increasing the gun shield size to block more incoming fire.
It used to be harder to shoot someone off of it in Halo CE because there was a shield on the front of the turret so only your front was protected.
I don’t know if Halo 5 has it. 343i changed the model over time.
It’s a warthog. The problem isn’t vulnerability, it’s bullet magnetism.
It’s the drivers job to make sure you don’t get shot at and that you shoot dem Spartans.
It’s no more vulnerable then inputs halos.
I heard that if you face the enemy in you’re turret and aim up, it will cover your head. Try it out.
I have noticed this. The low time to kill and relative immobility on the turret makes you a sitting duck. Shame because this vehicle used to matter and require team work making btb so fun.

I have noticed the gunner dies awfully quickly. It’s a shame really.

Im not sure. Some guy put up a thread of tips on warthogs. This was one of them. Like I said, try it out.

Except it’s impossible for the driver to completely avoid fire, especially when it’s coming from more than one direction. The only bit of protection the gunner gets is in the front, where the shield is, sides and rear are completely exposed.
