Warthog Safety 101 (Instructor: Captain John)

Captain John: “Alright Tim. You take the gunner. Sam, you take the passenger.”
Tim: “But Jooonnnhhh!?! I hate the gunner position.”
Captain John: “Huh, why Tim?”
Tim: “Because there is no cover. My legs, body and face is exposed. You might as well buy my a tombstone”
Captain John: “No you wimp. This is super high tech all terrain military vehicle. Its 2552, its a driving death machine!”
Sam: “Actually sir, he’s right. Hell even the passenger has his head in the open for a head shot.”
Captain John: “What?” he looks at the Warthog “Who the hell disguised this? This is a disgrace!”
Sam: “343.”
Captain John: “What were they thinking? Such beautiful misery should actually be able to protect you.”
Sam: “According the the handbook its only take like 25 DMR shots to blow up.”
Captain John: “What the holy hell. Well we could just keep moving.”
Sam: “I’m afraid not. An enemy plasma pistol shot could home on us and render us helpless.”
Captain John: “Jesus. Its a rolling death trap!”
Sam: “And it overheats in about ten seconds of consecutive fire.”
Captain John: “That’s it where walking. Grab you magnums boys.”
Tim: “So we can kill enemies faster than a high tech BR or Assault rifle”
Captain John: “That’s the spirit!”
Sam: “You know what weird?”
Captain John: “What’s that, Sam?”
Sam: “In 2015 they had something called a Humvee. It had full cover for the driver and passenger with armor and bullet proof glass. Th gunner was also almost full protected and get this. It would take a rocket to destroy.”
Captain John: “Where can I get one of those. It’s much more viable than that -Yoink- warthog!”
Sam: “At your nearest antique store.”

EDIT: Here’s a link to my post detailing how bad the warthogs are.

Don’t you dare insult my darling warthog

I don’t get it.

  1. Warthogs are fine if your driver isn’t an idiot and stops when enemies are nearby to “help” the gunner aim (KEEP -Yoinking!- MOVING -Yoink!-)
  2. From personal experience humvees are awful, and would be much less effective than warthogs

Drivers, please, stay moving, and everything will be okay.

1 Too many counter such as Splaser, PP, and Railgun just to name a few.
2 Humvee’s offer much more protection than a Warthog though

  1. There’s been anti vehicle weapons in every Halo, and from H3 on we’ve had lasers, missile pods, etc., it’s nothing new.
  2. Humvees have very light armor plating, and don’t offer significant protection (granted it’s not open like the warthog, but spartans have heavy armor on)

  • True, but Warthogs in other halos have had more health and dish out more damage. In addition, there is plating to block head shots in older warthog model.
  • To counter that, Spartans, while they are better suited for a warthog, are much more rare than a standard marine. If you were a marine in 2552, you would be a sitting duck in a warthog.

First of all the warthog was designed by Bungie not 343.
Second of all it was designed to be a light, fast off-road scout/transport vehicle and was given the ability to be armed. It wasn’t made to go straight into battle with enemies at multiple angles instead it is designed to be able to shoot at a specific target for which its minimal armor is proficient at protecting the gunner. In universe it would take very little damage from even 25 dmr shots.

I’m taking about the new disign of the Warthog. the design where the front plating on the turret is lowered to allow for head shots. That’s 343’s doing.

Agreed on both counts.
(Though I dont have much personal expereince with Humvees, having only ridden one at an air show, but I can tell you, sitting on that gun while that things roaring along at 50 miles an hour and pretending to shoot something is bloody ridiculous.

You could still get headshots on Bungie’s hog but it was harder.343 gave even more body protection but just lowered the two front plates slightly.

  • blows warthog horn * * bamp bamp , bamp bamp baaaaaaaaaamp * LOL pretty funny post you have here sir. It does not seem to me that the HALO 5 warthog is as proficient as it’s former models especially powersliding…But you know I kind of miss the CE hog because of the warthog flip videos I’ve seen on youtube back in 200X…and I definitely miss the H2 gauss hog so invigorating lol.

Well:
First: Bungie designed the warthog not 343
Second: the vehicle is desiged to go fast, not being protectiv like a tank
Third: nice post, like this its more fun reading complains

it is always the divers fault, you cant get the drivers these days, typical Sunday drivers, they deserve to get shot

Hopefully 343i will fix this in the Hog Wild update, they probably wont though

warhogs are good, gungoose are good, the big problem are one: THE DRIVER LOOOOL.

Second: that shouldn’t mean 25 or so DMR should be able to blow one up
Third: thanks!

It’s called a Puma. Not a “warthog”, a Puma

red vs blue quote. Love it!!!

It is pretty sad that a light breeze will blow them up.

A Warthog isn’t even supposed to be the equivalent of a Hummer. The hog is basically a vastly improved Jeep. It’s a scout vehicle, not a light support vehicle.
