Warthog Run

Note: I’m not talking about the Warthog Run OST.

I was wondering whether we will see a Warthog Run in Halo 5 Guardians.

Recapping the past Halo games we had one in CE and H3, also we had a similar escaping scene in H4 with the Ghost. And ODST also had a longer segment with the Warthog in the last mission.

Personally I’d like to see the return of this iconic element with the Warthog itself at the ending or near the ending of the Campaign.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see its return?

I’d rather see them expand on one of the final segments of Halo 4 with the Broadsword. I think flying a Broadsword through a crumbling chaotic environment would make for a very exciting climax.

It’s one of the things that I like about Halo’s campaign, but it’s going to be difficult, as you know that both teams have four members and if you want something similar to Halo CE, 3 and 4 the best chance is that 343i creates a four passanger seat Warthog (I meant 3 passangers and one driver).

Eh, kind of. Halo 4 did have one sort of. Though it wasn’t a warthog. It was that new spaceship (forgot what it was called) It was pretty fun for the most part. It also had a ghost section where you were escaping doom.

In Halo 5 it would be pretty cool if there was a new vehicle for 4 people.

I’m really curious how they’re going to handle vehicle levels in Halo 5. Since you’ll be accompanied by four other Spartans at all times there will be not a lot of vehicles that can handle that people. Mongoose, Warthog, Banshee, Wraith, Phaeton, etc. all hold less than 4 people.

The only vehicles we’ve seen before that can hold more than 3 people at the same time is the Scorpion, the Falcon from Reach, the transport hog from Halo 3 the Spectre from Halo 2 and the Prowler from Halo 3. I wonder how they’ll make sure everyone can be transported with the same vehicle.

The warthog run has been done enough, doing it anymore would make it a cliche.

Agreed.

There will be no possible warthog runs if it takes place with 4 Spartans. I mean their ‘‘AI’’ won’t make it, only the player would so often.

Agreed. It also didn’t help the OP’s case when the word “iconic” was used. It’s a pet peeve of mine at this point.

I would be cool with a Warthog run somewhere in the game, but not as the finale, and maybe not with the whole “escaping imminent doom” vibe. As others have said, doing it any more would just water it down and make it a cliché.

Maybe have a “battle run” where you have two Hogs (two characters in each), and you have to blaze through a hostile environment in a finite amount of time in order to reach an objective. For example: you hop in the Hogs and tear -Yoink- through an enemy-held canyon while being pursued and cut off by by various enemy vehicles, and you have a timer because, let’s just say, a bomb is going to go off if you don’t get there to stop it.

So do both…Chief’s team using Warthogs, Locke’s team in Broadswords.

Maybe but not as the finale it would be cool if the game started that way though IMO.

Even though I would really like to see one, I can’t help but to think 343 would try to make it their own and removing the classic/epic feel that the first ones gave us. If there was one thing bungie knew how to do with halo, it would be giving the player that epic feeling.

I’d love to see a return, but not as an ending. The Ghost Run in H4 was cool.
And the Sabre flight in Midnight ruled!

I’d love to see the good ol’ Warthog run return, be it as a finale or not. Halo 4 had the Broadsword run, which was fun, but seeing Blue Team rolling out in two Hogs would be a grand finale. Maybe have them trying to reach a Guardian that’s awakening?

Now I know this thread is outdated but on the warthog run topic I think it will be great to have a warthog run in like halo 10 or something kinda similar to the ending of halo 3 like “just one last time” type thing where someone sacrifices themselves to save chief and blue team or humanity like maybe Locke? Or chief sacrificing himself to save humanity and blue team? Idk I think something like that will be cool.
