Warthog much less effective...

Greetings all. I’m wondering if anyone else thinks that the warthog is less effective in Halo 4 than it was in previous iterations of the franchise (I’m talking about the MG one, not the rocket / rail gun of death ones, which are hilariously effective). I typically play Big Team with my friends, and we’ve all noticed that driving around in the Warthog generally gets you nowhere but dead, really, really fast.

I think that it is due to a couple of things:

  1. New weapons. There seems to be a bunch of vehicle raping weapons now, much more so than before. I’m not going to bother listing them all, but I will list just one that seems to drop a lot from ordinance packages, and is an insta-warthog-kaboom : rail gun (forget its name, but you know what I’m talking about… it is brutally effective).

  2. Machine gun is much less effective. If the relative damage hasn’t been changed, then the accuracy is worse.

  3. There is something on the warthog that works as a sticky grenade black hole. I swear to god they just zip right on it now, much more than before.

  4. Do regular weapons do more damage to vehicles now? Seems like it. I get a lot of vehicle kills with a DMR.

There isn’t much that can be done about the weapons or my likely inaccurate claim that there is a sticky grenade black hole present in every warthog engine. However, I really think that the accuracy and damage of the warthog machine gun needs a bit of a boost. Because as of right now, when I see folks driving around in a warthog I laugh, run at them, plasma and nade them well before they can kill me.

Am I totally off base? I’ve only played a couple of days, but it isn’t like this game requires months to figure out. Sorry if this has been posted already, search function failing on me right now.

Yeah I think it’s pretty much the randomness of ordinances that make the Warthog somewhat less effective. I mean when I get in the Warthhog in H4, I fear that I might come across someone with a lucky ordinance of either a laser, fuel rod, rockets, railgun, etc…

Unless you’re gunning in a Gauss Hog, mounting a turret is suicidal.

Traditional hogs used to be feared with people taking cover until the danger had passed - now, folks just potshot with their DMRs and the gunner is down in an instant jiffy.

In the past, I’d feel dread with a Warthog enroaching, or empowered when driving one.

Instead, I now lulz and consider myself lucky to be the one to get that easy double kill.
Where as when I drive, I feel vulnerable and paranoid.

Yeah basically whenever we get in one the driver must always, always, be going full blast everywhere, zig zagging, praying all the while. Might as well make the MG better, might actually kill something while tearing around running for your life.
