Hello all,
I would like to give some feedback on the Warthog.
I will expand my feedback as soon as I could play myself.
Feedback
Look: looks good, possibly there will be a classic look in the future but I like it. - Sound (engine): sounds very strange, like a small rally car or something like that. I personally found the sound in Halo 2 and 3 much better. It should sound more like a heavy military truck. - Sound (MG): Sounds like a higher cadence than previous Halo parts but the MG doesn’t sound bad.
The engine sounds smooth, like it was just tuned. Perhaps the more damage the car receives, the worse the engine sounds. It would be a very nice touch if it were like that.
Yes, the sound isn’t great. It would be nice if it had a more classic sound. Also, the things on the turret really shouldn’t be square shaped like in Halo 4 & 5, although that’s not as much of an issue. The worst thing though, is the turret projectiles. Did anyone else see them? They looked like big blobs of light. Which, actually, is what they looked like in the first multiplayer reveal trailer, so this is more of a…delayed criticism. Hopefully it gets changed before the game releases.
I noticed that you can control the warthog mid air!!! Was this possible in halo 5? Didnt play that much to remember. Im not a fan of this mechanic at all. Being a good warthog driver takes skill. Making it that you can control the warthog mid air so that you can land it easy is such a damping experience. If this is in the game it will be a training wheel mechanic slapped onto vehicles. I know that 343 is trying to make halo for new players but come on. Its a learning curve that must be experienced. If your driving and some how hit the ramp at a bad angle, it would send the warthog into the air at a bad angle, not being in control of this gives you this rush you cant mimic in a safe way. There shouldn’t be a training wheel mechanic that you can easily press a button or move a thumbstick to avoid this outcome. The warthog lands on its side, flips and rolls and you either fall out and try again or you have the greatest reward that you managed to land it, all down to sheer skill or pure luck, being able to control the vehicle mid air will take this experience away. If you can control the vehicle mid air its feels like that its unfair and goes against basic physics.
I would be kind of on the negative here, I`m okay with the route they gone… but there is something about the classic warthog that I love and that is the looks, I would love to see the classic warthog added as a skin or something like that on the future, or something similar to what they did with the pelicans
