I have received this email on an alternate email; address as did many others.
To redeem that “gift” on a gamertag that is not linked to the same email address follow these steps.
1. Log into the email that received the gift.
2. (Do NOT click the link) Copy the address link provided in the email.
3. Log out.
4. Log into the email linked to your active gamertag.
5. Paste link that you copied from the email into your address bar.
6. Profit!

What do you mean by logging into my gamertag? do I get on Live and redeem the code or do I use my e mail account linked to the gamertag (they did the same thing to me not sure why )

343 where are my codes where am i supposed to complain aout this crap been loyal to xbox abd the halo series and this is how i get treated
Which e-mail do they go to?
Do they go to the one that you log onto X-box live with?
The X-box billing e-mail?
The Live account billing e-mail?
Because Microsoft is a security -Yoink!-, I have about 4 different e-mail accounts attached to a single GamerTag… and one of them is deleted…

People have started receiving codes. My friend who lives in the same state got his hours before I got mine. So relax everyone will get their codes soon enough.
Got mine as well! Just redeemed it via online, turned on my Xbox and it just said I d/l’d it as soon as the dashboard popped up!
OK- I STILL DON"T HAVE A CODE!?! (it’s the 30th @ 2400)Starting to get a little PO’d - already dislike the in-game join- and the fact that I’ve been lvl 70 for like 2 plus weeks- no it’s not just about unlockable armor and swag- I’d like to be able to FULLY enjoy a game I;ve paid for- and I’m feeling like I’m a spoiled kid whinning about not getting a cookie or something- but have never been this dissatisfied with Halo- I love the series- oh yeah and my pre order armor disappeared (again)there is no longer a fire fight on the local play menu, no in campaign camera, Spartan Ops started off good but for some reason didn’t enjoy the last two episodes, I think Reach was prettier but can’t decide why(odd I know) and had less lag issues… sigh… I’m trying hard to enjoy it but I think I am getting to upset about the unorganized mess that Halo has become to just shut up and play- please tell me something/anything to keep my hopes up…

I receieved my mail, clicked get your free gift (email is correct). Redeemed that -Yoink- hard. Go to xbox to find nothing new and no specs. One thing bungie had that 343 doesnt is foresight, the key to all big time games

I looked in active downloads after Yoinking! my -Yoink!- over this bovinepoopy and it said it was assigned to another console so I said -Yoink- that -Yoink- assign it to this one and i got my stuff. -Yoink-
