Warning over 4Chan Xbox One prank

Xbox One owners are being warned about an internet prank message that could wreck their console.

The prank message, originated on the -Yoink!- website, falsely claims to enable the new console to play games made for its predecessor - the XBox 360.

The Xbox One cannot play those older games and those following the bogus advice could “brick” their console, rendering it inoperable.

Microsoft issued a warning about the prank via social media site Twitter

So annoying. Thanks for that. Hadn’t heard of it before this.

I heard about this on Cheezburger. The mods over there are trolls these days.

Damn. No matter what, -Yoink!- is always related to it somehow.

That’s why I stopped browsing it months ago…

It is sad the some people fall for this.

> It is sad the some people fall for this.

Some people just don’t simply think.

And this is why I don’t trust anything from -Yoink!-.

Major Nelson has also tweeted that it is not possible to play Xbox 360 games on Xbox One, you should not risk it.

I don’t, either. -Yoink!- is not my cup of tea, and I hope and don’t think it ever will.

I’ll just use my Xbox 360 instead when I want to play Xbox 360.

Yeah, I simply avoid -Yoink!-, it’s full of trolls.

Hey, you’ve figured out how to get The Xbox One backward compatibility to work! Take your Xbox 360, plug into your Xbox One, turn on both consoles, log onto both consoles, and play your Xbox 360 using your Xbox One.

Just like anything on the internet don’t trust it unless it’s been confirmed by the actually company/product.

If someone fell for this I wouldn’t have sympathy for them. I find it rather funny. Just as funny as that dude who paid $400 for an xbox one picture. Read the fine print, slow down, and do research.
