Warning: Mass Coordinated DDoS attacks

Halo Fansites have recently been under DDoS attack as of midnight, September 7th.

Affected sites include ForgeHub, HaloCounsel, HU, and HaloTracker

If you know anything about this, or if another site gets attacked, please post here. unless this site gets attacked, then idk.

*edit: to clarify, the sites listed may have already solved their own issues this is just to raise awareness that there is someone attacking halo sites.

So i’ve just been over on HaloUNITY and noticed people talkin about this,

What’s actually happening to the attacked sites??

Like said in your topic about ForgeHub earlier, what do you honestly expect anyone here to do, it is up to the sites owners to protect themselves from DDoS attacks.

Affected sites were/are rendered inaccessible for the duration of the attack, this can last hours, or weeks.

HaloCouncil have been under DDoS attack for over a month now, however it apparently has spread to other sites. Who’s behind it and why is still a mystery, although I believe Council has some leads.

@ShadE - Basically, a DDoS attack just knocks sites offline. It’s not necessarily destructive, it’s just really, really irritating because it makes your site unaccessible to everyone. It’s a hacker’s way of trolling, more or less.

prepare this one before it is hit too (If it is hit)

Waypoint’s a subsidiary of Xbox and Microsoft, I think we’ll be safe.

Thanks for explaining, That’s messed up man, I’d be gutted if Waypoint went down.
I’ve only just made my return! I take it these hackers are not easily tracked down?
Would love to return the trolling in there direction! lol

To bungie.net if attacked!

our site’s tech admin, Kenji from ForgeHub backtracked the hackers, you might want to ask him.

Revenge has gotta be sweet on such occasions!

I haven’t heard from him since FH went under attack for the second time, I would assume that they managed to evade him.

So who are the actual culprits? If it’s against the rules to post it here, PM me.

no one is sure to my knowledge, kenji thought he had them, but apparently not. the reason I made this thread was to figure out what to do, and spread awareness

also, It shouldn’t be against the rules to post here, this does concern halo, specifically websites that support it.

Come on now, just think of how much fun it would be without the current iteration of Yo.

I don’t see the problem in posting this here, but remember the rule against calling out. I’ve heard of cases where people have used the identities of others to attack websites, getting those others in boatloads of trouble. I don’t want any witch-hunts starting in this thread.

Id love to see these kids try and fire the lazors at xbox.com

For everyone else, theres cloudflare.

… MS created Skynet, Bungie created Hal, Apple will create the Matrix… Of the 3, I feel safer with the first 2.

I see I’m not the only one who see’s Apple’s evil ways…

On topic, DDoS is fine as long as they haven’t reached the source code for the site. Just another reason for encryption standards…
