I got up to the Warden Eternal fight on The Breaking on Legendary and had been doing well. I found myself really, really struggling with this fight. I spammed incineration cannon but my AI team were useless in this fight and I could only keep them alive by sending them to the corners of the area. I died SO many times. It got even worse when the stupid forerunner turrets spawned. Fortunately Fred had an incineration cannon and lent me hand but this fight was awful. All balance went out the window.
How did others find on legendary?
YouTube is my tool to help me kill the Warden. Just watch some the video on how to kill him. That how i was able to kill him.
I tried to do without youtubing and I did… eventually
I always just run around and try to find a spot where enemies can’t get to. The second to last warden fight with 2 in the wide open forunner area if you sprint to the other side there is a cave you can hide in. On both sides of the cave you can find places to get out of site. I would just send the AI out there so the wardens would turn around and shoot them in the back.
thr last one I just hung back with a power weapon and again sent the Ai out to distract them. Once the turrets come out take them out RIGHT away. You really just need to figure out where to stand with these warden fights. Once you figure it out it’s not hard at all. I did my first run solo legendary without any issues. Solo Legendary is all about taking your time and thinking everything through beforehand.
you tube is key. He’s still hard, no getting around it
You could always do the glitch that skips the fight entirely
I still feel the pain of constant deaths on this boss fight!
So, I didn’t realize this until Mission 14 when you fight three of him.
You CAN damage him by shooting his big, dumb face. I was under the impression shooting only his back damaged him. Amazing who I ever got that far in Solo Legendary only shooting his back. Kinda of embarrassing and impressive.
It is also immensely beneficial to
- Keep your team constantly moving, especially from cover to cover.
- Give them power weapons. As long as they are alive, they have unlimited ammo.
- Tell them to attack! They increase their rate of fire when they have a specific target.

Yeah that’s how I killed the first one not even knowing about his back. From bouncing all around I found the incineration canon floating in the middle so I just unloaded on him. Then I just continuously shot him in the face until he died. I figured out what to do on the second one when he got hurt and turned around. I said oh -Yoink- that could be a weak spot
can the warden be assassinated in campaign ?
I shot him in the back with a binary rifle four times. I honestly found it to be way too easy. Halo CE still stands as the hardest game to beat on legendary IMO.
Binary rifle > Inceneration cannon
On the part when you face two they give you two full clips of “The Answer.” I used that to clear out all the trash in seconds, made my way to the back and grabbed the handy binary rifles they supplied you with.
no, the warden can’t be assassinated in campaign. @DEMONccs
I had the most unfortunate luck to kill the 2nd Warden with only 1 half dead teammate left… which got instantly killed by the turrets… that was fun… everything I could do was stand behind one of the pillars and fight warden. I begged the game for 2 hours to finaly get past this. Eventually I did kill him of. Its actually a pretty neat trick:
You grab a shotgun and a Inc Cannon. Charge Shoot one round at him, so he goes into “Rebuild” mode, where he is stunned for a second. Jump behind his back and shoot the hell out of the blue ball in the back. If you hit enough, he will get stunned again without moving. Just keep shooting and he should die before you run out of shotgun ammo.
As your going through the level there are a few spots where you can order Blue Team to pick up Incineration Cannons. Make sure each member has one (including yourself) before you go into the fight. Have your team go to the left or right so you only have to worry about fighting one Warden at a time. Hammer them with Incineration Cannons until they go down. I would also recommend a precision weapon to shoot the Wardens back if he’s facing another member of Blue Team (it does a lot of damage.) When you run out of ammo there are 2 more Cannons in weapon stations under where the Warden’s spawn in. When you get to the turrets have a precision weapon (I favored the light rifle) to take them out as their charging their beams in 5-6 shots to any orange spot you can find on them. Just be patient and you should come out okay, I managed to get the achievement for no team wipe during this fight using this method (or if you’re all about to go down, just reset to last checkpoint and it will take you to last Warden kill, still pops.)
And as far as I know you can’t assassinate the Warden in campaign. Gotta say though in Warzone assassinating him is awesome, finally managed to do it the other day.

This basically sums up my experience. Keep moving and try to be aware of each Wardens location. It’s really just trial and error.

Are you Sure? #misinformationscrub
I just kept running around the grav lift and the upper platform so he couldn’t shoot me, when my allies went down I’d dart out and grab one of them so they could revive each other while I kept the warden’s attention.
Shotgun is your friend here , use cover let them come to you. Use the shoulder charge that will get him to drop walk behind him and shotgun the hell out of his back. Rinse n repeat.
