In the latest Canon Fodder Grim went over the Guardian and the Warden Eternal very briefly and this is what was said about The Warden. “The Warden Eternal is an ancient Forerunner ancilla who now serves as the majordomo of Cortana’s forces.” So that ruins a lot of theories on who he is. Hes not the Didact. But this confuses me a little bit. Exuberant Witness says hes not a robot and even The Warden says “Curse this form!”. I don’t think that’s the whole story with him. I can pretty much guarantee this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him.

I’ve always had the idea that the Warden Eternal is a Promethean Metarch Contender-Class Ancilla and that there is more to him than we know, and yet it’s there in front of us, we just don’t see it yet. But, hey, that’s just me haha.

He could still have previously been an organic. Technically, 343 Guilty Spark is an ancilla but is made up of at least Chakas and the Lord of Admirals.
It doesn’t ruin any theories really. “Ancilla” is just the Forerunner word for AI, and his true origins and what led to his current state of being are still largely unknown.

Cortana hasn’t “cured” anything as far as we can tell right now, her presence in the system only seems to have “awoken” the Warden and the Domain for some godforsakenly convoluted reason.

Well seeing as how both the Warden and Cortana are not exactly the best examples of rational thought, I’m not inclined to view anything else they activate as being “cured” either. The Forerunner’s words in the terminals are too choppy to really draw any concrete conclusions about what’s going on here.
I kind of support the theory of Cortana being infected with the logic plague or her being a rampant fragment that has been influenced by the the Didact.
As said by the Builder in the Intel Data, the Warden Eternal exists since 100.000 years ago, so it couldn’t be the Ur-Didact. It’s a composed forerunner or human of 100.000 years ago, before the war between Humanity and Forerunners.

Perhaps he was once a Forerunner, maybe even the one who created the Guardians, and it was his job to keep control of them, hense his title The Warden. Then some time later, he was composed and turned in to an ancilla with multiple bodies to inhabit, and so became The Warden Eternal!

It cold be possible that we’re being thrown off so the surprise is revealed in Halo 6. I’m pulling at straws here, he’s an ancilla whom I kidding?
What if the Warden was once a Warrior Servant, maybe even a Promethean (from his orange hue) and was composed when the Prometheans offered to be composed. The Warden had then somehow been charged with protecting the Domain and Guardians.

I don’t understand why the forerunners just didn’t unleash warden eternal on the flood when they came knocking.

It’s possible when the Forerunners saw that the Guardians were useless against the Flood they sidelined not only them but the Warden too.
