While I think that 343i has made a great attempt to bring back a beloved mode of Halo fans, I think it could possibly be a swing and a huge miss.
Hear me out.
Being able to use reqs, and play with 7 other friends sounds like a pretty good time, but how long will that fun last? Req cards are pretty limited, and if you play war zone, you know how fast you burn through those cards. I think that a huge issue here is also the fact that it is only objective based, and last 5 rounds. This isn’t why we fell in love with firefight in the first place. What made firefight so good was the increasing difficulty of enemies, and seeing how far you could get… You could be playing firefight for well over an hour and still be going strong. I think this is what makes similar game modes like Zombies in CoD so popular. Seeing how high of a score you got, and comparing that against the rest of the world on a leaderboard is what keeps people coming back to the experience to beat their best score, and try to climb the leaderboards. I think this is also why firefight in Halo Reach was a bust… To be completely honest i almost forgot that there was firefight in Halo Reach while writing this. Firefight in reach was missing so much of what we loved about firefight in ODST.
I am genuinely excited for Warzone Firefight either way, I just think that 343i needs to add another mode that allows for endless gameplay not a 5 round limit. They could use the lives system like ODST did, or make it so that if the whole team dies, its game over. I personally liked the life system, it made you more cautious about deaths, but either would work great. Also, lives allowed you to play by yourself if you wanted.
Anyways let me know what you guys think, and if there is anything that I missed that kept you hooked to Firefight in ODST.
I just think its too early to say anything.
We don’t know how we’ll be able to use the REQs, we don’t know what exactly is in 1 of the 5 rounds, we don’t know what the mechanics are.
I know you’re just speculating, but it doesn’t even seem like we have enough info to speculate about.
Yeah it looks quite a bit different, but we won’t know if its good or not until we try it. Personally I’m pretty excited.
Way too early to form a judgment from a 60 second, limited-reveal trailer. While I didn’t really enjoy the old firefight (games took forever and were rather boring), I am interested to see how they’ll work it with REQ’s and how gameplay may be tweaked.
I agree it is too early. Although I am excited to play pve gameplay. Noone plays halo 5 campaign coop like MCC. Halo 5 thus far has been entirely pvp so this will be a great breathe of fresh air
Again I agree it is way too early, we didn’t see anything in the video, it good be better, it could be worse, or it could simply just be different but fun.
Am I disappointed that there’s no solo mode? Of course. Does that mean I’m not hyped about what I saw? Oh hell no.

This.
So many people love to criticise before they try something, just give it a go before you start hating
Yeah, we should first give it a few runs to see how it is. That trailer was waaay too short to form any conclusions.
it’s too early to complaint
I like the idea of being able to use reqs, idont use them in warzone anyway. simply put because it sucks to get killed right after you spawn something, while your teammates are just waiting to assasinate the enemy and then steal your reqs… i literally got 100s of reqs so idc if i burn through them
The state of this community is summed up completely by this post. Speculating something will be disappointing, without playing it, from a minute-long reveal trailer.
I rather wait and try it out before I decide. I play abit of warzone and I very rarely touch my req cards

You know, they never said that there wasn’t a solo mode. You could go into “matchmaking” to start the game, but potentially have an option to set team size. Nothing has been said either way, so there isn’t much reason to be disappointed about that yet
I say this will be a better firefight then all of the other ones just by the looks of the trailer. You have 8 players. You have to fight hard enemies at least thats what I think. This actully looks like it wont be as boring as the other firefights because the other ones are to easy and the online version was terrible with all the lag. But again we can not judge it yet
How about actually play before trying to pass judgement?
It’s not like this will be a black hole of REQ cards… Just like Warzone, you play and get points, then you buy packs and get more. If it lasts longer, you get more points… 343i has been pretty good about adjusting the number of points you get based on how long you play a match.
You’ll find the discussion already the happening here.
