So I am getting sick of seeing facebook posts and being told by people “Hey I got the Crimson map pack for free!!!” This is bull crap! I payed $25 for the map pack when I could have downloaded it for free and bought the next 2 map packs for cheaper than buying the war pass. I would love to see something extra from 343 for this “mistake”, but with how things have been so far I expect little to nothing.
(before people say anything by the way so its no misinterpreted, im pissed at 343, not the game).
343i is letting those who did not pay use the content till the 18th. Then 343i will lock their content till they pay.

So i just read somewhere in teh forums that after Dec 18th the people who downloaded it for free will not longer be able to access it. The person did provided a link or anything, but I hope this is true.
I also had the issue that with the war pass I didn’t get access to the map pack until much later in the day were as people who bought it separate where on it straight away. Good game but this “customer service” side of things is really letting it down.

apparently they are “removing” the content from your xbox tomorrow at 9 EST if you didn’t pay I believe. Only those who have the early access spec ops code can do this and its only possible through the halo menus, so I think it’s a glitch. Microsoft is just covering their tracks on this one.

People who bought the Limited Edition w/Map Pass - Still get the map pack and keep it.
People who bought the Map Pass alone still get the map pack and keep it.
People who bought the maps with MS points get to keep them.
People who just took advantage at an obvious pricing fault get them for free until the 18th and then access to the extra maps is lost untless they pay.
MS’ last minute damage control ensures that legit buyers are not screwed over, LE/MP holders still get all three packs at a discounted price, and those who took advantage without paying still get to play them for a few more days…and then lose them unless they pony up the cash like the rest of us.

Last minute is right. Also remember the above is what’s “supposed” to happen.
With the current track record, I’m completely expecting plenty of people who legitimately own them to lose access to them along with the ‘free trial’ people.
In any case, the maps will still be on everyone’s hard drives after the 18th

It’s a trial. They won’t be able to use the map pack after December 18th. No one got screwed, settle down.
Microsoft has the ability to lock out content if they want to. It’s even in the ToS we all agree to by having a Gold account.
Sure, they messed up the launch of maps so badly that they decided to cover it up with a “free trial” but they have every right to do so and it fixes the issue of Map Pass owners feeling taken advantage of.
I was unsure about buying the maps/Map Pass, but now that I get to try them for free before making my decision, the choice becomes a little easier. Just like playing a demo for a game.
I don’t agree with the way it was handled…announcing that it’s only a trial a full day after the maps were released…and after telling us that it’s ours “Cuz that’s on us.”
But oh well, whatever. Life moves on.

not just halo on the waiting thing. season passes are becoming a pain in the butt
This is the first map pack that was downloaded free and now you can play the maps in any playlist due to the shear volume who downloaded you are not constrained to only a dlc list to enjoy the maps. Come the 18th that will stop, is that really what you want? Paying for maps you cant enjoy? 343 already rotated dlc playlists in reach they will probably do the same now. In terms of the cut off, I am sure those who downloaded the maps during the “glitch” are fine, those continuing to download now may be locked out. Who knows though, I know for one I’ll not pay 10 bucks for these maps for MP after seeing what they fully are and the glitches in them.
The maps will come up in any playlist that they are available in if everyone in the party has the maps. Hopefully the new matchmaking system will match people with DLC together unlike previous Halo games. Previous games were suppose to but it very rarely happened. Seeing as they can’t seem to match people that live near each other together I’m not going to hold my breathe that it will work. So far it works great but that’s cause a lot of people have the maps right now.
Well they won’t be deleting them off my hard drive because I already did. I don’t like the idea of them (MS) monkeying around with my -Yoink-.
Microsoft can EASILY tell who bought the map pass and who did not.
The glitch was just that, a glitch. They will be fixing it and ANYONE who downloaded the maps for free who didn’t buy the Map Pass will be locked out. They won’t be able to remove it from your hard drive, but they can revoke your license to access the content.

Then you need to unplug your console from the internet. They have full control over any DLC you have on there. You may wanna remove the tinfoil hat and read the ToS you agreed to.
