War game's population dropped to 70k.

Halo charts.

Discuss the population drop’s origins.

Well all of New York has had testing going on this week except for Monday which had 95,000 even when alot still had work. AT&T people also have no access to live right now. Friday it will bounce back. It always does.

You can argue that H4’s population drop is proof that it’s a bad game until you are blue in the face.

Doesn’t make it true.

If anything, this proves that H4’s leveling system wasn’t deep enough seeing how Reach is still on the XBL Activity Charts.

There is a clear downward trend, the last time it hit 100k was 11 days ago.

Poor excuse. NBA 2K13 and black ops 2 still have their normal population, and i took tests.

People who play black ops dont study.

Just shows that adding new playlists and Spartan Ops doesn’t fix the problem.

Irrelevant. Other games are keeping their population. I wonder why halo 4 isn’t keeping it’s?

Because it blows chunks

What I ment by “it always does” is that its low on week days then on Friday goes up to like 95,000, it did last week and the week before.

Since CoD is above Halo in the rankings, they took CoD stuff to Halo.

when will we get creepers? because minecraft is more played than Halo 4.

lol. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were added.

70k?

I swear you guys all read the daily mail. Next thing we know 343i is now so greedy it’s going to END THE WORLD! OH NOES! ONLY seventy thousand peopleto control the arrangement of pixels on your screen.

Population means nothing. It means LESS than nothing, in fact. I like my clothes. Not that many people have them, but am I dying? (hope not)
Meanwhile, look at people who just spent £50 on a shirt. And look how happy they are.

Once again, IT MEANS NOTHING. Here is a quick question

  1. Can you get into a game?

IF YES: There. Now please shush.

IF NO: There must be something seriously wrong with your interwebs dispenser.

Agreed

Many are turning over their critical reasoning to MLG, to population charts, to COD, to inform them whether this game is good or not.

It is simple.

Play if you like it.

Don’t play if you don’t.

That’s daily peak population.
There’s still hundreds of thousands of people playing the game regularly (I think).

You all worry about something that does not effect you. Let 343 handle it. Personally, there will be good and bad days for ALL games.

This is not just wrong, but spectacularly wrong.

Population is huge.

When the numbers go down, it becomes a vicious cycle. Peoples friends aren’t playing, so they stop playing, etc etc. Playlists become fragmented with some having under 1 k per playlist. Games take longer to get into and you are paired with people not close to your skill level and more importantly not close to your location which means LAG CITY. Smaller population= way worse connections and quality of games.

> That’s daily peak War Games Matchmaking population.
> There’s still atleast a million people playing the game regularly (I think).

Fixed.

> That’s daily peak population.
> There’s still hundreds of thousands of people playing the game regularly (I think).

If the PEAK (as in, HIGHEST) population is at 76,000 for War Games, where are you getting the hundreds of thousands others?

There isn’t that many people playing Campaign and Spartan Ops. Some, yes. But not that many.

Actually from a statistical and marketing standpoint the population is a huge deal. Population reflects how the xbox live community enjoys a particular game.

Population is a direct reflection of how the game is received among the gaming community. The more people playing the game means that the game is more liked. The fact that Halo’s retention rate and overall population over the last two games has dwindled significantly in the first half year or so shows poorly on the game itself as well as the studio.

Halo 4 is pulling numbers that Reach pulled much later down the line. The fact of the matter is that less people in the gaming community enjoy Halo 4 less than they did Halo: Reach. This traditionally results in two things:

  • The game is patched quickly to a more traditional state (or the next installment is like this)
  • The next installment is more akin to a more successful game franchise (see CoD)

In case you have not noticed since Halo: Reach every subsequent game has more and more features essentially copying Call of Duty. This is bad in the sense that while it may attract more players from such franchises the game itself loses its identity and loses its appeal to its original consumer base. This is what is happening to Halo. Players played Halo to play Halo, the arena based shooter with equal starting weapons and power weapons on the map.

When a game becomes a shell of its former self then it loses that original consumer base. Halo 4 is suffering from this. And Halo 4’s population is going to continue to dwindle unless changes are made to it that bring back the Halo 1-3 flavor that older fans crave.

> You all worry about something that does not effect you. Let 343 handle it. Personally, there will be good and bad days for ALL games.

It’s been in a steady decline since release. This isn’t good/bad games - it’s just bad.
