So I’m assuming you’ve read about the War Games Map Pass details released today. 343i has not ruled out the chances of any of these maps being remakes. While I understand new maps are great, it wouldn’t be out of the question to bring back a past map and recondition it for the purpose of Halo 4 play.
I made a few observations based on the information disclosed in the article:
From the Majestic Map Pack:
“Monolith exposes you to the naked vacuum of space – and the firepower of opposing teams”
Does anyone recognise how Monolith is a synonym for Relic? This could be a clue for a reboot for a Halo 4 space-based Relic remake based on massive Forerunner structures.
Also from the Majestic Map Pack:
“Skyline’s distinctly industrial feel provides new challenges in somewhat familiar, but occasionally confined spaces”
Familiar - this suggests it could be a remake of a past map. But what? Perhaps Turf. This is based in a city (not necessarily a skyline) with some tall buildings, and some very confined spaces. I acknowledge that “familiar” could just mean taken from Campaign.
These guesses point to Halo 2 remakes of which not many have been made in recent times (Anniversary map pack, Ragnarok in Halo 4). Of course these are just theories. But what do you think? Do you have any theories based on the article? Are these educated guesses or are they wayward guesses with no basis? It’s fun guessing in the meantime.

Where is it confirmed that there will be no remakes?
I love how the trend in forums is for the first respondent to always revoke everything that the OP has put forward. I don’t see the issue of not immediately “recognising” maps in the concept art. That concept art was deliberately vague, water coloured and offered nothing but landscapes for the most part. If it’s confirmed there will be no remakes then I will concede.

I agree with you, although I don’t want there to be remakes, there is still a possibility of them. Really the only thing you can take away from concept art is what theme will be in the map and even that can change a fair bit depending on where they are in the development stage. And then themes can change drastically in remakes so really you don’t get much information from the concept art.

Yeah well I hope all of these new maps are not remakes, that’s my opinion.
Trust me concept art can change a lot compared to the final layout. Also OP is talking about layout remakes rather than direct remakes. I agree from those pictures I would be surprised if there is a remake made with the same theme as the map it was based off.

I should have been more clear and thanked you for your links post because it was extremely helpful. And I see what you’re saying.
But if you base the map on its concept art then you’re playing an unplayable map. Concept art gives (in most cases) context to the setting of the map. I know when Bungie released concept art they would do it in such a way that would provide context to the map. Only in a retrospective sense would they say “Hey, this is the concept for Guardian - these walkways here, this central bit,” etc and then maybe show earlier versions of it per-render.
If I was 343i I would not put out anything that resembled anything to do with any of the upcoming maps. At this stage I would keep it as quiet as possible until releasing information to a third party like IGN.

Well I really am not that fussed going forward. As long as they are enjoyable to play on. I will still speculate.
