Wanting Ideas for a Flood style Infection map

First off not sure if this is the right spot to ask this. As I haven’t seen a general Forge forum I’ll assume this is okay here.

All players can use vehicles, weapons and grenades. Survivor loadout is the same, Starter infected cannot pick up weapons or use vehicles. As it is for all intensive purposes this Infection form has no connection to a Gravemind, and hasn’t infected anyone who has the know how to use any of the before mentioned.
(The gameplay reason for this is to make it feel like for every person that gets infected the Flood gets smarter.)

All weapons and vehicles do not respawn, and ammo on existing guns is greatly limited in favour of more guns around the map. The aim of the above is to encourage you to pick your fights and conserve ammo and move from location to location as well as explore and scavenge. Rather than camp out and fire wildly at anything that runs by.

Im making this map on Glacier, aiming toward a ONI Research outpost in the middle of nowhere. (A bit of inspiration for the movie The Thing). I’ve got a total of two buildings one fairly large. (All buildings have a panic button that sounds an alarm through the base. I don’t know if it’d see much use but I thought maybe players could use it to alert othersthat there’s an intruder.) (Going to try and squeeze in a third building.) There’s a good mix of clutter in the supply depot to allow for hiding. ALL crates, guns, intact turrets, tables chairs, are set to normal physics to allow the player to create their own cover. I did include cover and hiding spots to not force the before mentioned. Added a few explode-ables like gas containers and explosives barrels (these can be pushed too). All doors open very slowly and create a lot of noise when being opened. Doors that connect to the outside will constantly sound a siren till closed. (Doors do not break when the button is mashed as I used the switch interactive function and wait times to match that of the doors opening timer.) Most of the building can be accessed through the vents that connect to the outside allowing for ambushes from the ceiling or stealthy break ins.

Light levels are good enough to see but dark enough to make hiding possible.

This is what I have so far, I’d love to include screenshots but I don’t have a clue how to do so. Put in three days into it so far and at a little over the 1200 in the object limit.

I’d like any suggestions you many have, or just to hear what you like or dislike in infection modes. Anything at all would be greatly appreciated as I’d like to make this enjoyable, attempt at scary and gimmicky (been dying to find a use for the vents).

I’ve been thinking about allowing for one of the buildings to have a self destruct switch. But I don’t know how I’d be able to show an in-game count down. That and I’ve never used the green screen before. Nor from a gameplay standpoint of how fun that’d be in the first place as it just limits your options to go. And I could see people just willy nilly blowing the base up along with themselves.

Beware though, remember the atrocity we got back in halo 4. Maybe a flood infection gamemode isn’t such a good idea.

How bad was it in Halo 4? I think its bad now in Halo 5

Here here! Halo 5 infection is garbage. Nothing but a camp fest for crouched invisible zombies just waiting in corners and racking up infections by doing absolutely nothing. Even though Halo 4 infection was complete trash, Halo 5 infection is still much worse. 343 can’t make a good infection game mode to save their lives.

Well yeah it’s bad in halo 5. I can’t explain it but halo 4 infection just felt wrong.

My goal is to eliminate all camping by keeping ammo scarce and all locations accessible from the outside. As for camo I’m tied on whether the starter infected should even have it. I used to just give it poor camo back in Halo 4.

Not a problem, as long as each room doesn’t have 3+ entrances like all 343 infection maps. It’s tiresome and boring when you can’t hold out in a location because when you look at one door you get knifed in the back out of literally nowhere all because there are too many entrances for infected.

i think that’s the problem with 343i, map control is the worst. They added all these abilities without creating a map to support all the additional movements that players do. They need a better level designer or hire some forge players that actually but more time into their maps.

Halo 5 is the absolute best infection imo for once the infected and survivors are balanced unlike halo 3 (which was by far the worst infection guame mode ever) survivors can pick up weapons and zombies have thrusters to help them get people although active camo needs to go

Everything seems great how you describe it whatever you do though do not give alpha active camo instead give them a vorpal talon or a speed boost anything aside from active camo that is reasonable instead of giving shotguns why not pistols so they have to scavenge weapons and stuff and add a variety of cool weapons that aren’t normally in infection like beam rifle, lawgiver, and other things and if you are going to add vehicles don’t add too many or it’s gonna be outbreak city and when you get it done if you don’t have anybody to play with, send me an invite that seems fun!
